DH has asked me what I want for my birthday. WIBU to ask for a pair of boots (or two)?

They're not expensive. £15 each in Tesco sale, so money is not the issue.

The only problem I can foresee, is DH going Shock 'are you 'aving a laugh?'

My current boot collect is as follows:

1 long purple heeled suede
1 long black heeled suede
1 long brown heeled lace up
1 long brown flat with fur trim
1 long brown snowy weather style
1 long black heeled leather
1 short black heeled lace up
1 short brown pull on
1 short black army style

1 pair of each, of course, not one of each! Grin

Bit low on short boots, I thought? What d'ya think? Grin

Presents are about desires not needs. If you desire another pair of boots, go for it. I'd rather buy someone their 200th pair of boots if that was their desire than something they didn't like and wouldn't use.

MaureenMLove · 17/01/2012 21:02

Might also need a new wardrobe too though! Grin

YANBU

lollilou · 18/01/2012 14:29

9 pairs of boots! Ha that's nothing I have 35 maybe a few more. You can never have to many, besides the more pairs you have the longer they will last! YANBU.

stealthsquiggle · 18/01/2012 14:34

It's all in the interests of economy - DH just needs to realise that. I only have 2 pairs of boots that I wear, and we don't talk about the others and they seem to be taking it in turns to be mended ATM. Clearly if I had more they would last longer. Unfortunately the only boots which fit me properly come from Duo, so money is the issue.

Anyway - it's your birthday, he asked, and that's what you want. "need" is not relevant.

FlangelinaBallerina · 18/01/2012 14:58

If money is not so tight that you have to use birthday presents to get essential things, YANBU.

aldiwhore · 18/01/2012 14:59

YANBU.

I like boots and they're a bargain, you ABU for not asking for much more expensive ones though.... for £15, well they're more a stealth buy to lose among the weekly shop surely?

What these? I had them AGES dharlink.

stealthsquiggle · 18/01/2012 15:13

Mo - changed my mind - YABU because I am now looking at a bargain pair of Duo boots and wondering for what occasion I can ask DH to spend £115 on more boots Grin

molschambers · 18/01/2012 15:17

Love boots. Have 10 pairs and always looking for more. Don't do shoes. Sandally things in summer, trainers for gym and boots for the other 11 months of the year.

YANBU.

Listzilla · 18/01/2012 15:19

Maybe you should ask him for a walk-in show rack?

Listzilla · 18/01/2012 15:19

SHOE, dammit

LizJonesStolenSperm · 18/01/2012 15:23

It's my birthday on the 21st ...i asked for a hoover. It's what YOU want thats the main thing

So no YANBU!

celebmum · 18/01/2012 16:22

'tut tut' thats not enough boots MaureenMeLove..... you must get more boots.. doesnt your DH realise that you will be frowned upon by other mumsnetters if you don't have sufficient pairs of boots.... Grin GrinGrin

YADNBU ask for the boots!

OldMumsy · 18/01/2012 18:03

You can never have too many boots or shoes. So YADNBU.

ViviPru · 18/01/2012 18:08

YABU for talking about shoeshopping and not posting a link.

MaureenMLove · 18/01/2012 18:55

Ooops, sorry! Here, here, oh and here That's 3 pairs! BlushGrin

Good point about losing them in the weekly shop though. I might just have to switch from Sainsbos online to Tesco.com! Grin

On reflection though, its my birthday on Friday and I am going to collect my brand new car tomorrow night, so maybe I might be a tiny bit unreasonable!

Thing is, all jokes aside. We have a joint bank account, we both work full time and DH hasn't been paid for January yet, so strictly speaking I'm buying them anyway! Grin

LordOfTheFlies · 18/01/2012 18:58

You can buy them if they are Mum Boots. Wink

stealthsquiggle · 18/01/2012 18:58

unless you're a size 3 and you want them in green, you would appear to be out of luck on the first pair (shame - they're nice)

Boomerwang · 18/01/2012 19:00

I wouldn't get me fat legs in that last pair, Maureen!

The sort of boots I have to wear at this time of year in Sweden are the kind with fold out crampons on the bottom so I don't go skidding on my arse down the hills!

MaureenMLove · 18/01/2012 19:00

lol! Don't buy in to the mum clothing stuff or the over 40's stuff, of which I am both. If I look good in them, I feel good in them and DH likes me in them, then I have them.

Obviously he'd rather I had thigh length patent ones, but that possibly does have an age limit! Grin

Good form OP. Them's proper mum boots make no mistake :). Demand all three. This very instant. And happy birthday to you.
