adies, it's that time of the year again!!....support of Breast Cancer Awareness!! So we all remember last year's game of writing your bra color as your status? Or the way we like to have our hand bag handy? Last year so many people took part it made national news and the constant updating of status remind everyone why we're doing this and helped raise awareness!! DO NOT tell any males what the status means.... Keep them guessing!!! And please copy and paste (in a message) this to all your female friends!! It's time to confuse the men again(not that hard to do ;);)
The idea is to choose the month you were born and the day. Pass on to girls only let's see how far it reaches around. The last one about the bra went all over the world.

well AIBU just seems silly to me

Yes it's silly. A lot of people have their birthday on their profile anyway, so this years one is particularly daft.

The one that's doing the rounds now, with the picture of the baby with cancer on her face. Sad Telling people if they get so many 'likes' she'll get a treatment. People just blindly like. Do they not think these things through?

Also this one in the same vein. Using a picture of the poor girl who died years ago. www.hoax-slayer.com/zoe-chambers-story.shtml

I usually reply with a link to a donation page of a cancer charity. I bet none donated though :(

Sevenfold · 16/01/2012 08:45

the annoying thing is the person who sent it to me, made me thing she was going abroad and has now got arsey cos I said I hate these things.
I love fb but why oh why do people think crap like this is fun

I always reply with a link to donations as well as a sarcastic comment and get the response that, oh, it's all about "raising awareness" and I must be an evil person who puts puppies in blenders or some such.

Awareness? Who the hell hasn't heard of breast cancer or child abuse?

Whenever I link a petition which might actually do some good no fucker ever even bothers to like it.

YANBU. Winds me right up.

IUseTooMuchKitchenRoll · 16/01/2012 09:21

They don't raise money, they just make people who do bugger all for charity feel good about themselves because they kid themselves they are making a difference.

I got that message last night and ignored it. Then I got the reply from one of my friends friends who I don't know saying that she disagreed with them because men get breast cancer too so she hates the 'hide it from the men' bollocks.

I wondered if she was a MNer while I did a secret cheer for this stranger!

Sevenfold · 16/01/2012 09:32

yep I hate the "hide it from the boys" crap
calling grown ups girls and boys is going to annoy me anyway :o

I did like the one about where people keep their handbags.

But then I burgle houses for a living.

EightiesChick · 16/01/2012 09:36

Pointless timewasting.

claireinmodena · 16/01/2012 09:40

Totally useless imo, and I am a breast cancer survivor. I actually find them quite annoying as I think they detract from proper awareness and fundraiising.

I am oftem tempted to openly dismiss if as bollocks but then I know my friends do it thinking about me too (among others) and with the very best intentions so feel bad about telling them what I really think. I dont take part though!
