To think that an awful lot of things are down to luck...

Watching one born every minute particularly the water birth very calm girl and reading comments afterwards about how lucky she was. Of course she was-but why does that negate her role in it? Actually, I'd like to see less credit taking generally in the world. How many things are there that people take credit for that are due to significant luck either from what the gene pool gives you, your parents input and all sorts of things. Sorry - feeling philosophical while feeding on a Friday, but I feel uncomfortable when people are too bigged up for their achievements. I just can't help but think that lots of the achievements I am told to feel proud of come from standing on the shoulders of a crowd of giants.

There are things you can't control, like the family you grow up in or the diseases you get. You do have an element of control as to where you put yourself and which direction you go in. Some people have to make their own luck.
