AIBU to want to complain about this delivery?

I ordered some boots online. The site said they deliver by courier and they need a signature. I phoned to ask if there was any chance they could leave the parcel in a safe place. No, they said, it must be signed for.

I placed an order for a Saturday delivery to ensure I'd be home and paid extra. I've just got home and found my parcel slung over my gate. I want to complain because I paid extra to have it delivered on a Saturday and today is not Saturday. If I'd have known, I could have ordered regular delivery and paid a lot less.

AIBU?

YANBU. I would complain if I were you.

ViviPru · 13/01/2012 12:47

I'd try my chances at a refund of the difference in cost of a regular vs. Saturday delivery.

Groovee · 13/01/2012 13:07

If you paid more for a saturday delivery then you should be refunded.

justabigdisco · 13/01/2012 13:16

Def complain, especially as you rang to ask and they said they must be signed for.

I'd pretend they hadn't been delivered & complain when they don't turn up on Saturday. They havent been signed for = they haven't been delivered.

crashdoll · 13/01/2012 17:23

bagelmonkey, I'd feel too bad I did that!

I am going to write a (mildly) snotty email though.

I too think you should pretend at the start. Then when they respond with 'oh actually the courier delivered them yesterday' you can say:

"Oh surely not - not on a day I wasn't in and when I had paid for Saturday delivery" Hmm

I imagine they will then ask you to look outside - you will then 'find' them and they will then refund the delivery charge and the postage and packaging charge as they have been 'rained on'.

catchafallingstar · 13/01/2012 17:34

of course complain!!

You paid for a service you did not receive.

I would also be tempted to wait until Monday and then send an e-mail asking where my pacel was - the one I'd paid extra for to be delivered on Saturday...

ENormasSnob · 13/01/2012 17:43

Complain.

Shutupanddrive · 13/01/2012 18:18

Definately complain after it doesn't turn up on Saturday!

WowOoo · 13/01/2012 19:17

No, no, no!
Just complain about the delivery cost and ask why you had to pay extra. When you explain that if it isn't resolved you will not be doing business with them again a nice voucher may come your way.

If you go the dishonest route, you'll waste time and get an honest but careless delivery person into trouble.
But you may get a full refund the dodgy way and keep your boots. How dodgy are you is what it boils down to perhaps?!!

catchafallingstar · 14/01/2012 14:23

I'm very dodgy....Grin
