I have 3 fears that send me running in terror. Spider's, dentists and needles. Normal I only go to a dentist if I'm in pure agony and if I have any work done at all it has to be in a dental hospital. I know its not rational and pathetic but I can't help it.

Today I went to the dentist when not in pain to have a filling that should have been done in September it took 4 injections and I was shaking like a leaf and cried a bit but I did it!

well done.

somedayma · 11/01/2012 20:59

damn right you should be proud of yourself! fears that seem silly to some people aren't silly to others. Well done :D

stubborncow · 11/01/2012 21:01

Yay - well done! Hope you reap the rewards of happy teeth now!

KatyMac · 11/01/2012 21:04

It took a couse of hypnotherapy to do that so you are well brave

Have wine & thanks

I have always thought the word 'brave' is much misunderstood - so many people say it means 'not being scared' but IMO it means 'being scared BUT doing it anyway' :)

You are really brave and you damn well should be proud!

WinterIsComing · 11/01/2012 21:17

Well done you! Overcoming a fear like that is bloody amazing.

Are you able to give blood? That would make you feel even prouder Smile

HellonHeels · 11/01/2012 21:23

That is wonderful! You've been extremely brave. Did you get a 'survivor's high' when it was finished?

You could build on this by booking a check up for six month's time. My dental phobia keeps in check if i go regularly. Im currently overdue a check up and the fear has built up.

messymammy · 11/01/2012 21:29

Well done you!that is great. I have a broken tooth, right down to the gum and a filling that needs doing since last Jan and i still haven't gone

stargazer83 · 11/01/2012 21:29

Thank you all for the lovely replies. :) no survivors high just a proud feeling. I'm glad I did it and will definitely be going back in 6 months, keeping on top of it sounds logical Hellon hopefully that will be the case here aswell.

I can give blood but I think that's a bit out of my league right now.
