Oh and Birdiegirl, wish I had some ideas for you but I was of the go up a few sizes in clothes kind when pregnant - New Look and Dorothy Perkins maternity were good for some staples but I don't think they would be as dressy as you are maybe looking for? What I did do for weddings was dress plainish but dress up with vampish accessories, got my hair done and false eyelashes which made me feel glam in spite of myself!

Hello! I am from Norn Irn originally (Hillsborough) but now live in Engerland. Just wanted to say 'Bout Ye! Oh and one which makes my English friend laugh - ''Par shar!' (ie power shower!)

SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 13/01/2012 21:39

Birdiegirl there's a designer maternity wear shop in fountain street in Belfast. At the back of boots iykwim?

Chicksy · 13/01/2012 22:38

Hi everyone. I live in Belfast. Its great to see so many from Norn Iron on here.

Birdiegirl · 14/01/2012 09:46

That's great Perfume thanks, I know the street your talking about. I'll give them a try.

Gabby46 · 15/01/2012 00:23

Hi all, first timer here,

also from NI. just wanted to say hello

Sinkingfeeling · 15/01/2012 00:38

Hi from me too - originally from Coleraine area but living in England for decades now Grin. Still come over a couple of times a year though. Loving par shar - and it still cracks dh up when I put the towels away in the hot press, even though it's been 20 years since he found out what it was. Hmm. Someone was looking for a place to stay on the north coast - we've stayed in Portstewart a couple of times and it's lovely.

inspireme · 15/01/2012 18:26

birdiegirl walked past brown bag in magherafelt y'day and they had a maternity dress in the window, so worth giving it a nosey!

Birdiegirl · 15/01/2012 22:03

Thanks inspireme I'll pop in there during the week. I'd never think of that shop for maternity wear.

saintlyjimjams · 15/01/2012 22:09

We go to the north coast of NI quite a lot, weirdly I wrote a blog post about just that on Friday. The beach in the photo is Portstewart Strand, although personally I prefer Whiterocks the other side of Port Rush.

My husband says hot press as well Confused and face cloth rather than flannel.

saintlyjimjams · 15/01/2012 22:10

TheUnsinkableTitanic · 15/01/2012 22:15

they are on facebook and could let you know what stock they have
(this is their facebook name House Of Kidz Omagh & Enniskillen - not sure if enniskillen do maternity)

dingdong3 · 16/01/2012 09:20

Lol saintly at the hot press thing. I went to visit my SIL in Berkshire a few years ago and she was viewing houses while I was there so being the nosy helpful person I am, I went with her to see one. It was a VERY posh lady estate agent and we walked around the upstairs landing, I pointed to the one door she didn't open and asked 'Oh, is that the hot press then?'...cue blank looks. She was looking at me like I had two heads...'No' she said in her posh voice, 'It's the A i r i n g C u p b o a r d' (said very slowly for the foreign person) lol...my SIL (from NI) was in stitches behind her so I couldn't help it but burst out laughing too! SIL didn't buy that house needless to say...I mean, what use is an airing cupboard when it's a hot press you want??
Actually, if you're from Southern Ireland, you usually refer to your kitchen cupboards as kitchen presses! I think that's where the hot press thing comes from..

dingdong3 · 16/01/2012 09:21

By the way....MORNING ALL! Grin

NeedlesCuties · 16/01/2012 10:02

Useless fact:- We don't have a hot press in our house. Got it removed for more storage space when we changed from oil to gas central heating.... but yes, hot press = the right term Grin

dingdong there's an older lady who helps out at a mums and tots group I go to who was talking about her kitchen presses last week. At first I was a bit Confused but guessed without having to ask her. She wasn't from Down South though, or at least didn't have an accent.

Ummm, so that's the height of my wisdom today. Morning sickness must be addling my brain Hmm

DioneTheDiabolist · 16/01/2012 12:27

Hello. I'm in Belfast and one of the shelves in my hot press is broken.Grin

ChiefPotterer · 17/01/2012 16:05

Absolutely love Portrush/Portstewart especially the yummy desserts at the Ramore wine bar. Anyone ever been to Ballintoy now that is beautiful...

Sinkingfeeling · 17/01/2012 22:08

Yes, I love Ballintoy, ChiefPotterer, little gem of a place. I've spent many a happy hour on Property News browsing houses with a view in Ballintoy. :)

saintlyjimjams · 18/01/2012 08:43

I think we drove to Ballintoy last summer. Lovely.

It looks as if we'll be back there next summer. Probably north coast again although previously we have been based in Belfast so that's a possibility as well. Any recommendations for places to go please fire away. Although I suspect we'll end up surfing/beaching and running through the fountains in portstewart again.

Incidentally there's a very helpful surf shop in portrush (troggs???? Is that right????). The guy selling boards was happy to give lots of suggestions about places to surf and advise about rips etc

sallyanny · 18/01/2012 10:08

I'm another one living near the town with the big shopping center!

blondie80 · 18/01/2012 10:08

saintly, we love fermanagh for a break, staying around lough erne or on lusty beg island, outside enniskillen, loads to do for young, old, couples, families. Smile

sallyanny · 18/01/2012 10:08

centre

fedupworking · 18/01/2012 10:34

Hi I'm another Norn Ireland woman, living in Bangor County Down

saintlyjimjams · 18/01/2012 11:18

Thanks blondie. We'll probably stay on the north coast (or maybe Belfast) as we can stay for free there, but we tend to like to head off to different places as we find it small enough to cover quite a large area (which gives my MIL kittens  ) Enniskillen is probably about the furthers point from where we'll be staying  but I'll look up lough erne and think about a day trip. We went to Portaferry once which we both liked. Had lunch in a really lovely guest house (the narrows???) which I think has now gone Sad

sad10 · 18/01/2012 12:03

I'm originally from Inishowen but living in Derry now. Debates in our house include the chip shop/fish shop, Robe/dressing gown, slippers/trainers, ironing/smoothing, I could keep going.
