Before I spend the next ten minutes cleaning it off my pushchair wheels? Grr!

YANBU! Do you have an outside tap?

bigkidsdidit · 09/01/2012 09:26

Hasn't it got a lot worse recently. I HATE it, it's so depressing. Our MP came round recently and said this is now the no1 issue people complain about to him so hopefully something will start changing.

I have to say I chase after people yelling if they don't clear it up but my MP told me not to, apparently there have been fights when the public step in like that. But I don't know what else to do :(

mousyMouse · 09/01/2012 09:26

YANBU I hate it!
bloody irresponsible dog owners!

Molehillmountain · 09/01/2012 09:27

Done it with a bowl of water to pour and washing up brush (now in the bin of course). And breathe Smile

YANBU! It's vile and more often than not it's the children that tread in it...don't know howdog owners can just leave it...vile!

Ponyclubmum · 09/01/2012 09:28

YANBU. I can't get my pushchair up all the steps to my house, so I have to leave it in my car which is parked on the road. Every time I push it through some dog poo, I have to scrape it off as best I can before putting it in my car boot, taking DS up the steps to the house and waiting til DH comes home or DS has a nap so I can nip back down with a bucket of water, by which time my car stinks. It was so bad one summer I started taking a bucket of water down every time I went out and leaving it in my boot, because it was a daily occurrence.

It's just disgusting, and unnecessary. I clean up after my dog, it's not hard, so why can't other people?

Molehillmountain · 09/01/2012 09:30

The galling thing is I noticed it on the way to school and got the children past it only to get it on the wheels on the way back. At least I noticed before I put the pushchair in the car! Yuk. And I feel for the dog owners ( the majority) who bother to pick it up and then get mixed up with those who can't be bothered.

YANBU. I came back in from the rain and wind the other day only to discover that I'd trod it round the front room and it was all over the pram wheels. Right over DS's play area. Absolutely disgusting. My shoes are still sitting out in the rain as I can't face cleaning them. (Of course, I did clean the carpet but only whilst holding back retchings of vomit).

Areallytiredwoman · 09/01/2012 09:39

YANBU - although in our area it has improved because of vigilant community wardens handing out on the spot fines.

I will say that most dog owners I know are really good with the pooper scoop thing - its the odd irresponsible ones that create the problem and they are more likely to be walking their dog through the streets rather than giving them a run in a park or field.

A neighbours dog kept crapping on our front garden and after the second time picking it out of the treads on DCs trainers, I politely suggested that any future poo would be returned to its rightful owner through their letter box Grin

YANBU my old place was on a green which local people mistook for a dog loo. My neighbours used to love watching me out on "poo patrol" offering people nappy sacks to pick it up.

Where I am now I haven't spotted a single bit of poo, despite nearly every neighbour having a doggy or 2.

MosEisley · 09/01/2012 09:59

Tiredwoman that reminds me of my Dad's response to a man who allowed his dog to shit on the doorstep (yes, the actual doorstep) of Dad's workplace every morning.

He went out and said, 'excuse me, I think you've forgotten something', to which the man just shrugged and walked off. Dad picked up the poo, ran after the man, tapped him on the shoulder, then wiped it all down his shirt and tie.

The man started hitting him with an umbrella and threatening to call the police, but Dad just returned to work and washed!

Needless to say the dog walker didn't return.

Probably not the best response, but I always feel a bit of admiration for the boldness.

welliesandpyjamas · 09/01/2012 10:00

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks it has got worse. It's a proper Poo Hopscotch to get to school every day.

It probably is the same few bad dog owners all the time, and I think it happens at night, when they think they can get away with not being seen leaving the crap everywhere. But they don't care, it isn't their kids who walk in it, and drag it on to the school floors for other kids to sit and walk in. Sigh.

whatstheetiquette · 09/01/2012 10:05

MosEisley - well done your dad, that is just wonderful.

Leaving dog poo on the pavement is so filthy. I live on an estate where I share a driveway with 5 houses, but people are allowed to use it to walk through as well. Lots of children play out there (not just the ones living right on it) because cars can't drive right through - it's a nice safe area to bikeride, play ball games etc. Until filthy, nasty idiot people come and allow their dogs to poo all over it. Really sad. Ruins it for everyone. Having already ruined our local park with dog poo.

maxybrown · 09/01/2012 10:08

WE had to walk in the road the other day it was that bad, we had my DS (4) me, my friend, her DS (3) and her 6 month old in the pram - it was everywhere - yuk Sad we even have one local who just kicks his dog out from somewhere and off it goes to pooh on the green area then runs home. His dog is quite distinct though so I am next time going to follow it home then report him - or pick up said dog poo in bag and start leaving it on his step

I'm in a mega rant this morning due to dog mess, scruffy people mess and people just not giving a damn raaaaaahhhhhhhhh

lashingsofbingeinghere · 09/01/2012 10:10

YANBU Round here the fashion seems to be to scoop up the poo in a poo bag then drop the parcel into the road. Bingo, dog fouling and littering in one easy motion (pun intended).

Pozzled · 09/01/2012 10:32

YANBU. I hate it. Round here the pavements are disgusting. We also have a great recreation ground with football pitches which are used very regularly, the whole park is used a lot by children for picnics etc in the summer- but there is always tons of dogshit all over the place.

I know that most owners clean it up. The ones that don't shouldn't be allowed to have pets.

mousyMouse · 09/01/2012 10:36

our local football club abandoned their fenced in training pitch because a lot of dog owners use it to let their dogs run and shit freely in it. disgusting.

but I'm not quite sure if I find poo smudges on the lawn more disgusting than poo-bags hung in bushes. [boak]

oldmerryolesoul · 09/01/2012 10:37

I've taken DS to school this morning and while I noticed the 'poo tree' had been cleared there is one bit of the path that stinks of dog poo. I couldn't see any so assumed the lazy shits had used the grassy bit

catchafallingstar · 09/01/2012 10:45

But what can we do that is constructive?!
We walk to school and back everyday amongst it and I hate it!

Before Christmas I was goi g to take a piece of chalk with me and leave suitable messages on the ground/wall next to the worst areas - any ideas what to write?

Back to school today and we practically danced the whole way there to avoid it!
Hate it!!!

EnjoyResponsibly · 09/01/2012 10:51

I think it's a question of lack of bins to put it in.

Where I live there is a dog owner/s that go to the extent of bagging it in wee black sacks, then festooning the sodding bags all around the neighbourhood. On wall, at the end of drives, in the middle of the pavement.

Plus there is a lack of wardens etc around making people pick it up and fining the tits off them if they don't.

EnjoyResponsibly · 09/01/2012 10:54

Lashing I wonder if we are seeing the same shite bags. I'm the one that goes all frothy and mutters furiously as I walk back from school. Grin

Meglet · 09/01/2012 10:54

Yanbu.

All I do is avoid dog poo or yell at the children as they're about to walk in it Angry. I even take the car to school sometimes as it annoys me so much.

But I never see anyone letting their dog do it. All the owners I see in the day time use pooper-scoopers. I think it's the teenage lads who walk about in the evenings and let their dogs run off the lead.

I wrote to my MP about it once too. Might send her another letter, it's been a few weeks since she heard from me about something.

EnjoyResponsibly · 09/01/2012 10:57

Re the wardens comment. The issue is that dogs are typically walked early am/ late evening so of course no wardens on duty.

But surely if they were to spend a couple of hours per evening monitoring a particularly shitty route they'd get their man. A £1000 fine would nicely cover the overtime.

Nancy66 · 09/01/2012 11:00

tons of it round my way.

Loads of yobs with staffies where i live - i suspect it's mostly down to them.
I can't imagine a thug with a status dog is going to stoop down to pick up its shit.
