Before I spend the next ten minutes cleaning it off my pushchair wheels? Grr!

YANBU. My piss boils when I see piles of shit on pavements.

I really can't think why people would be so spectacularly selfish, to leave something so disgusting there for people to step in. They're letting their dogs shit all over the pavements that they themselves are using every day. Lazy in the extreme.

lashingsofbingeinghere · 09/01/2012 11:07

My personal solution is a dog licence fee that pays for a proper poo patrol service. Local authorities could run it through local vets perhaps - a £50 licence fee could be split between vet and council. Special exemptions for guide dogs etc obviously.

bigkidsdidit · 09/01/2012 11:09

What shall we do about it? There must be some way of harnessing all our outrage Grin

My solution is to have a dog DNA database. Your dog's poo found on pavement once - you get fined £500. Found twice - fined £1000. Found 3 times - dog taken away. If you don't have enough money for the fines, your dog is taken away.

Other countries just don't have this problem. I think that in Singapore, it is actually against the law to drop chewing gum on the pavement. I think we should have proper laws against fouling, not just council rules/bye laws/whatever they are. People should be arrested for it.

shrinkingnora · 09/01/2012 11:23

Short walk yesterday resulted in poo on DS1 and DS2's shoes. And by short I mean about ten minutes. I too was wondering what I can do to stop it. Because if I see anyone else not picking it up I shall end up in prison.

Sausagesarenottheonlyfruit · 09/01/2012 11:26

Are there any leaflets? Perhaps the people allowing their dogs to do this don't know why it's wrong?

A bit of guilt in the right places, maybe?

Sausagesarenottheonlyfruit · 09/01/2012 11:30

oh, just found this website: www.fixmystreet.com/, you can report dog fouling here with map references and it gets forwarded to your local council.

TurkeyBurgerThing · 09/01/2012 11:32

It's horrible especially when you're stuck with a pushchair and can't go round it so then have to go onto a busy road.

I once witnessed the most glorious bit of karma. A grotty man with a large Alsation came out his front door and set of on his walk. He let his dog do an enormous turd right in the middle of the pavement. A bloke a few doors up then suddenly appeared, scooped up fresh turd on a large bit of card and posted it through the letterbox of the dog owner while he was off on his walk!

I'd like to think there's a lot more of this that goes on! I for one never leave the house with the dogs without a shit bag it's not a difficult thing to do.

Sausages, you have just found me a new hobby! That website is excellent.

GreenMonkies · 09/01/2012 11:36

YANBU, someone leaves dog poo outside the school my kids go to. WTF??

Sausagesarenottheonlyfruit · 09/01/2012 11:37

Grin I'm particularly taken with the notion of uploading a photo, finally a constructive use for my camera phone.

AriesWithBellsOn · 09/01/2012 11:38

Re: lack if shit bins. No excuse. NONE AT ALL! If your dog craps, then you need to bag it and take the bag with you. Bags of shit lying around are worse than loose shit. Angry

We have a dog whose lovely owner used to let it crap on our drive. When we finally caught him doing it and asked him to pick it up (not rudely but assertively) we found it thrown over the wall by our front door. That's the kind of behaviour I associate with certain dog owners I'm afraid.

AriesWithBellsOn · 09/01/2012 11:39

PS and we live it a naice area. No yobs with staffies here. Oh no.

wahwahwah · 09/01/2012 11:42

It is disgusting! The gits in the fancy apartment block next to us for some reason dump their rubbish next to the bins outside their blocks. The crappy dogs then shit next to it so that when the bin men do pick it up, we have lovely rings of poo around the bins.

maxybrown · 09/01/2012 11:51

ooh like that site, am off to take pics of EVERYTHING Grin

Tanith · 09/01/2012 12:06

One of the villi age schools I pick up from has this problem. It's a quiet rural road (apart from school runs) so it's not just the yobs.

Our problem is a dog who is let out on his own to run up and down the road for exercise: they're too lazy even to walk him, let alone pick up after him.

Nor is it a lack of bins. I take the kids to a National Trust woodland with loads of bins around and the problem is horrendous. Most of it is on the footpaths, too.

Can we have a bit less of the "yobs with Staffies" please. I have a Staffie and always clear up after him!

Bobyan · 09/01/2012 12:15

I have actually been trying to find a special type of spray you can get to go out and spray circles around the mess on the way to ds's school. Does anyone know where to get it?
I know it sounds mad, but it might just stop the children from treading in it and walking it into school...

Mum2Luke · 09/01/2012 12:15

I've never seen a dog warden EVER!! I did catch a woman about to let her dog onto the school sports field (which is fenced off but has a small gap), asked her why was she letting her dog on the field in the first place, she asked why I was asking and was I from the Council Shock. I told her it was my son's school and how dare she let her dog poop on there. I told the said Council and they said to take a photo, err excuse me but does everyone take photos of people letting their dogs sh*ing on a school field?

DoingTheBestICan · 09/01/2012 12:26

Right this has got me all riled up,some dirty dog owner lets their dog shit all over the path leading to my ds' school every day,i have just rung the council about this & they are going to patrol the area a bit more to find them.
There is a dog mess bin right next to the path & they even let the dog shit next to it.
It is disgusting!

cantspel · 09/01/2012 12:33

You should try living on the coast with a pebble beach.

Dog walkers let their little shit machines crap all over the beach and then just kick a few pebbles over it. Just makes the shit harder to see but you still get it all over you if you step on the pebble it is lurking under.
