Sorry to laugh but shit machines, love it!

AriesWithBellsOn · 09/01/2012 12:39

I think the "yobs with staffies" comment was not to be taken literally. It was to conform to a prejudiced stereotype.

My point was it ISN'T all "yobs with Staffies".

wahwahwah · 09/01/2012 12:53

We have a horse or elephant around here, judging by the size of the deposits

CarefullyAirbrushedPotato · 09/01/2012 13:29

Bobyan
when they did poop spraying here they used "Pink spray cans ... donated by the Forestry Commission to help spray the mess. "
I believe that paint the Forestry Commission usually has to hand is Tree Marking Paint. Try googling that.

welliesandpyjamas · 09/01/2012 13:44

Ah yes, around here there is also a dog(s) who just lurves having a good long crap right outside the school gate, greenmonkies, and then a few more deposits for good measure all the way along the pavement towards the play park next door.

Why doesn't dog poo turn white like it used to in the 70s and 80s, so you could see it better and avoid it?!

mousyMouse · 09/01/2012 14:01

wellies because (most) dogs don't get raw meat and bones anymore

naturalbaby · 09/01/2012 14:07

we went for a lovely long walk along the canal in the sunshine over the weekend, all kids safely strapped in to avoid the dog poo everywhere. for some reason all the local dog owners seem to think it's o.k to never pick it up off the canal path and it's impossible to avoid with a buggy!

when the local horse riding school go on a mass outing through the town they go along the pavements so my monday morning walk to toddler group is coated in horse manure too.

ComposHat · 09/01/2012 14:08

Don't get mad, get creative. A friend's husband and his dad go round the streets on Christmas Eve, spraying the dog turds in the street Silver and Gold.

Get a spray can and turn the jobbies into street art.

kerala · 09/01/2012 14:23

Don't move to southern Spain. There it seemed socially acceptable to let your dog shit on the pavement absolutely no culture of picking it up. But it was so hot it sort of got baked . Agree utterly vile round us there are lots of quite narrow footpaths heavily used by children and hospital workers yet the dog owners let their mutts shit all over them its just unforgivable.

hiddenhome · 09/01/2012 14:30

YADNBU

The old woman at the end house was letting her dog out to crap on the pavement and piece of grass that my dcs used to walk along on their way to school Angry

I reported her and the council came. She has since gotten rid of the mutt and the place is clean now. She used to watch my children walking along that path as well. Selfish thing.

I honestly cannot stand dogs because of this. I know it's not their fault, and is down to the owners, but it just winds me up when I see one.

poutintrout · 09/01/2012 14:38

I have never seen a dog warden on poo patrol - do they exist?
We have recently moved and the pavements are covered in dog mess. I have trodden in it 4 times in the last month and of course it gets walked all over the front room carpet too. The worst one was when it was on the sofa because my dog had trodden in it and I hadn't realised Angry

The trouble is I walk my dogs very early in the morning and can't see where we are walking because it is dark. You know you might be walking through something unsavoury but there is nothing you can do about it. I now have to wipe their paws with wipes at the front door so sofagate doesn't happen again.

I get incensed because I pick up after my dogs - I even take a little torch out with me so I can see to pick up my dog's mess when it is dark - and can't understand the laziness and total disregard of some other dog owners. There is nothing difficult about picking up after your dog and putting the poop bag in your own dustbin.

You are not being unreasonable, it does annoy me as dog owner who picks up after her dog. Particularly on pavements. Unfortunately no one appears to feel the same pull of responsibility towards cats. There are several cat owners on my road who all own cats that mess in my garden, on the path etc. I think that everyone should clear up after pets that way we'll have a fab clean environment to live and walk through!

wahwahwah · 09/01/2012 15:51

I was in a shop where one woman was buying dog poo bags.

Someone she knew came up and said 'what are you buying those for? for picking up the dogs shit?' and the woman comes back with 'only if its on my patio, he can shit where he likes otherwise and I'm not picking it up'. Lovely!

Slubberdegullion · 09/01/2012 15:58

We have a relatively new problem atm of a single owner allowing his dog to shit on the pavement outside the primary school every single night. Letter home from the head said that in order to resolve the daily problem of children stepping in it and then walking it into school the caretaker goes out every morning and picks it up before the school run. Poor man, hardly in the job description is it?

It is deffo the same dog [i know my canine stools emoticon] and occurs over night. I feel a night time surveillance operation with goggles and a team in a van coming on.

Seriously there is very little that can be done. The dog warden has been contacted but can only issue fines if he actually sees the crapping in progress. We have been asked to maintain vigilance and if we spot the offender to try (somehow??) to find out where they live and then the warden can post a WARNING note through their door.

Owners like this should be fined to the hilt if they are caught.

wahwahwah · 09/01/2012 15:59

No, they should have their noses rubbed in it.

mousyMouse · 09/01/2012 16:14

in my opinion , dogs with exception for working dogs, should not be allowed to be kept as pets. especially in a town.

RoyalWelsh · 09/01/2012 16:22

I have a dog and I think it is utterly vile. I pick up my dog every single time - it was one of the things I understood as being my responsibility when I got her. The local park where I live is shaped in a big, fenced in rectangle, with footpaths all round the outside and dog bins on each of the corners and Still I have to dodge piles of dog crap. What's even worse is whichever one of my neighbours who let's their dog out during the night to wander where they like and it crapped right in the middle of the part of my drive ghat is outside the gate, IYSWIM? So it's perfectly visible on the outside of my property. I can imagine that my immediate neighbours think it is my dog Sad

So many things to be angry about and so little time Angry and I genuinely dont know what to suggest to fix it either!

Sluttybuttons · 09/01/2012 16:33

mousy so because of some irresponsible fuck wits everybody is punished? Would you have all the dogs put to sleep? would be better if the owners were

Meglet · 09/01/2012 17:24

I have been known to bash out an e-mail to the council on my Blackberry as I wander past dog poo, I have the council e-mail address in my phone book. I just give them the address it's closest too.

Haven't done it in a while though, must start doing them again. It's very cathartic and they always cleaned it up.

JosieZ · 09/01/2012 17:39

Perhaps scrubbing school entrance with Jeyes fluid or something might stop the night time crapper. Rain might remove effectiveness but perhaps a regular spray of area with some strong smelling cleaner might stop the habit and dog find somewhere else to go.

JosieZ · 09/01/2012 17:42

A form of revenge might be to leave titbits for dogs laced with a laxative. Many people walk there dog before work so this might be a nasty revenge. If the phantom titbit leaver is known to work in a particular area or street then dogs will be walked elsewhere.

MissBetsyTrotwood · 09/01/2012 17:48

It's disgusting. I am a dog owner and it's really not that hard to take a plastic bag or two out with you on the walk.

There's one stretch (on the kids' walk to school) that was particularly fouled. Several people complained. The council sent undercover officers; they staked it out and caught the offending owners. I'm not saying it's perfect now, just that it's a lot better.

Some local families got together and the kids made signs for the local park. That helped a bit for a while too!

MissBetsyTrotwood · 09/01/2012 17:49

A nice surprise for all the other responsible owners too then JosieZ Hmm

thefroggy · 09/01/2012 17:53

Dog poo on the pavements? We regularly have to avoid horse poo on the pavements here...and no, I dont live in the country. Vile.
