Absolutely! I've had two powercuts this week - the second one lasted 9 hours! Yanbu!

I agree, one of my hens has stopped laying Shock

kreechergotstuckupthechimney · 07/01/2012 00:11

Both of my cats are wrapped around each other. The wind is howling after a day of being relatively calm and I'm plastered.
Dark days indeed.

SEA... sorry to hear about your redundancy Sad

RoyalWelsh · 07/01/2012 00:25

I feel it too - a tightness in the chest and a strange fluttery panic

If it's going to end badly and soon I might as well sod the diet and eat chocolate until I'm sick to make room for more

Silver lining and all that.

RoyalWelsh · 07/01/2012 00:27

SEA - can I just say on hour behalf.. CUNTS. (Tories, not you)

I could stand and chant that for the next 24 hours and still only feel marginally better. Arsewipes.

southeastastra · 07/01/2012 00:34

omg moon! hello

will will overcome i guess welsh Grin

BadDayAtTheOrifice · 07/01/2012 00:39

The moons doing this, I think. And (i know I should never start a sentence with an and, my mums a teacher) it's the official most depressing day of the year, one day soon.

Or is it the Polski beer?

yellowraincoat · 07/01/2012 00:45

In some ways, ya, but when you think that 300 years ago we'd all have been stabbing each other with big stabby swords for laughs then not really.

ShadowsCollideWithPeople · 07/01/2012 04:20

SEA, so sorry about your redundancy, have been there, it is a giant pisser. Hope you find something soon. Re the apocalyptic Mayan calendar stuff (am giant boring geek) Prof Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell gave a great talk, debunking it.

Anyway, OP, the past year has been witness to the darkest times I have ever known - cancer (my Dad), severe injuries (DP), redundancies, divorces, deaths, surgeries, my Gran almost dying but pulling through a major surgery, etc, etc. My take on it is that 2012 can only be better. Things cannot get any worse, given that DP and I have both started 2012 newly out of jobs (with my Dad). But I have an interview with a very highly regarded university for a senior role next week (Fri 13th, good thing I am not superstitious). See, if I though we were living in dark times, I would crawl into bed and stay there until the apocalypse. But in the words of D.Ream 'Things Can Only Get Better' Grin.

The dark lord cameron is turning his bloated evil eye to the last institution of humanity, the nhs

whilst his ring wraith clegg, seduced by power, can only do his bidding in a souless fashion

and mother earth is angry, hurricanes sweep the land
