to stop DS, 12, from watching Russell Howard?

He seems to think so.

Apparently all of his friends watch it.

I just feel a bit uncomfortable with it, somehow.

Why exactly is it making you uncomfortable?

Sparklingbrook · 06/01/2012 21:09

DS (12) watches it. He had the DVD for Christmas.

cadelaide · 06/01/2012 21:10

orgasm jokes, and stuff about anal penetration.

He knows all that stuff, he's very open and I've never shied away from questions, I just don't feel right watching it with him.

(Small house, one tv)

YANBU. DD1-12 loves Russell Howard and also got the DVD for Christmas. It was all she really wanted. I like him a lot too -- he's funny and cute.

Sparklingbrook · 06/01/2012 21:12

I can understand that cadelaide. He doesn't watch it with us-in his bedroom.

ByTheSea · 06/01/2012 21:12

Oops, I meant YABU. He is hearing much worse from his friends than Russell Howard might impart, IMO.

MorningHasBroken · 06/01/2012 21:13

No way, DSS isn't allowed to watch any 'adult' comedians - they're too unpredictable, language is too bad, subject matter isn't suitab;e. I don't care that all of his mates watch it: they apparently also all have ipads, iphones, internet in their bedrooms, facebook accounts, 3 times as much pocket money and complete freedom to hang around on street corners all weekend so this comparison is either untrue or they're all very spolit lucky enough to have nicer parents than him!

cadelaide · 06/01/2012 21:13

Hmm, I think I'd be fine with him sniggering over it with his mates.

Not at all, he's shite! x

MorningHasBroken · 06/01/2012 21:14

but he is a very 'young' 12 so perhaps that sways my opinion...

We watch it with DD. And she is not spoilt and doesn't have a telly in her bedroom (or an ipad or some of the other things you mention).

cadelaide · 06/01/2012 21:16

Oh good grief, he's not beautiful.

He's maddening. He irritates me in the same way bunches of young teenage boys do. Maybe that's my problem.

I watched it first, on my on. Realised that it's a wittier way of addressing issues that DS and his little mates talk about anyway in the schoolyard.

Bought it for him for Xmas.

Wouldn't ever watch it with him, though. Oooh, cringe. Grin

LineRunner · 06/01/2012 21:21

on my own not on

you'd be amazed how much of what bugs us goes WHOOSH over their (DD13 DS11) heads
he swears : and
bad pics : we subscribe to Fortean times and New scientist
news : cheerier than the daily fail !

ByTheSea · 06/01/2012 21:22

I think he's lovely too Stranded Bear. DD1 is also in love with him and she's crazy for Jack Whitehall as well. I like him too. We like to have a laugh here.

PandaG · 06/01/2012 21:23

watching him with DH at the moment. Not a flying fart's chance DS (12) would be allowed to watch. That may make me prude, but no way!

Sparklingbrook · 06/01/2012 21:24

I don't let him watch South Park or Family Guy and apparently everyone watches those. Hmm

I am no prude but I think I'd baulk at letting a 12 year-old watch someone going on about anal sex and orgasms. Jeez let the kid be a kid for a while longer!
So what if "everyone" is watching it/talking about it at school. Do you really want your kid to be the one who can explain in detail just how you get your brown wings? I don't want that particular parental honour.

My DD is mature and sensible for 12 and she has a fantastic sense of humour. There is a lot more to 'Good News' than anal sex and orgasms.
