I'm not drunk. I'm typing in the bath and pressed post instead of preview.

I love them shoes.
No

Agreed. I refer you to the Mitchell and Webb sketch where someone says "pacifically" instead of "specifically" and is summarily executed. That is the only suitable punishment.

End of thread.

Winkly · 02/01/2012 20:28

YANBU. But a lot of people will think you are. Grammar pedantry isn't a popular trait :)

partytights · 02/01/2012 20:29

Shall I flounce now or later? :o

OP posts:
VeniVidiVino · 02/01/2012 20:31

YANBU FFS, why can't people get the simple things correct?

See also less/fewer.

Megatron · 02/01/2012 20:32

YANBU but there are loads of them those kind of things that wind me up.

So many people now seem to write 'draw' instead of drawer and it drives me mad. i.e. I keep my knickers in the draw. No you don't you keep them in a drawer.

Zombi · 02/01/2012 20:35

Yes. If you get the general meaning of what a person's saying then how they're saying it should be a non-issue.

Notice it? Yes. Get actively pissed off about it? No.

RainboweBrite · 02/01/2012 20:37

I agree, OP. I think it's more of a dialect word than incorrect grammar, such as I done, however.

WorraLiberty · 02/01/2012 20:37

I can't get over the irony of you fucking up the OP Grin

I now have the guy from Phone Jacker in my head saying 'Bo'

ToughTed · 02/01/2012 20:37

OMG get a life why would you actually worry about something as trival as that?

GoingForGoalWeight · 02/01/2012 20:39

Them kind of people really get on those nerves or is it them nerves?

Xmas Grin
Megatron · 02/01/2012 20:42

Tough I really don't think the OP is actually worried out it, I think it's kind of a lighthearted thread.

Zombi · 02/01/2012 20:42

Worra I just noticed that!!! Bwahahahaaaaa!

Megatron · 02/01/2012 20:42

*about

LineRunner · 02/01/2012 20:44

You are correct OP.

Although, technically, wrong.

partytights · 02/01/2012 20:45

I died inside. Then I realised I couldn't amend my post and hide my stupidity intentional irony :o.

I'm not pissed off. This is light hearted
It does annoy me though.

ilovesooty · 02/01/2012 20:46

I must admit that every time I see "I done" instead of "I did" on here my teeth itch...

WorraLiberty · 02/01/2012 20:47
Grin
RobinSparkles · 02/01/2012 20:50

I can't stand it when people mix up were and was.

"We was going down the road and he were coming out of the pub." Arrgh!

Although, I don't really feel entitled to post on this thread as my written grammar is crap!

partytights · 02/01/2012 20:53

I'm very good at written grammar.

Wink
OP posts:
justasmallglass · 02/01/2012 20:55

Totally agree, it makes me cringe!

Wolfiefan · 02/01/2012 20:55

Led on the bed?
Aaaaaaagh!

SiamoNellaMerda · 02/01/2012 20:56

Grammar pedantry isn't a popular trait

Au contraire (and how annoying is that? Grin ) Grammar pedantry should be looked upon as a public service. If someone is too stupid to speak/write the language properly it is only right that someone should help them to understand more clearly.

SantasNutellaFairy · 02/01/2012 20:56

Would of
Could of
I didn't do nothing

VeniVidiVino · 02/01/2012 20:57

I see your point RainboweBrite but feel that whilst spoken variants are frequently (and rightly) non-standard in keeping with regional dialect, written forms ought to be in Standard English.

Though I appreciate there are those who would argue that less formal written communication (such as MN) can be considered to mimic speech more than formal writing.

That was a bit of a rant/post hijack, sorry.
