Here (taken for a dating site troll)

OP posts:
sheepgomeep · 31/12/2011 14:22

Its is visual humour worras right. Nothing to with how those women look or 'faults' they have. Many of those girls were very pretty.

Its just crude charicature art thats all

You either get it or you don't. I thought it was funny

I also thought the 'artist' was taking a dig at the women who are desperate enough to go on dating websites.

MamaMaiasaura · 31/12/2011 14:23

Lol at the dog with X X eyes and the blonde scribble. Some tho were a bit too far.

WTFlike · 31/12/2011 14:24

There's nothing "to get". It's cruel. Cruelty isn't funny.

MardyGra · 31/12/2011 14:24

Some of that was funny, some of racist and some of it plain mean.

Sounds like a guy who could be funny but doesn't know when to stop.

ThatsNotSantasBabyBelly · 31/12/2011 14:24

Oh that's me then - being desperate and going on dating sites

Thank god I did - have a dh and 2 dd's out of it.

It isn't as simple as visual humour - it is taking the piss out of how people look. Hence the black woman, the woman with "stubble"and the woman with a slight squint.

MamaMaiasaura · 31/12/2011 14:25

Agree it is caricatures and the women featured have posted images on site for dating and those are in public domain.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 31/12/2011 14:26

santas - sorry, i didn't mean to suggest that was what you were saying. I was just commenting that it's not cruel because they're women, it's cruel because it's a horrible thing to do, and it so happens this guy obviously chose to be cruel to women rather than men.

'I also thought the 'artist' was taking a dig at the women who are desperate enough to go on dating websites.'

What, because that'd be ok? God forbid women be 'desperate' (or, erm, maybe just trying to meet someone nice?).

TheSpreadingChestnutTree · 31/12/2011 14:27

Can you imagine working up the confidence to go on a dating website in the hope of finding someone, and receiving one of those? Nasty bastard. And people who go on dating websites are not desperate on the whole, although some may be.

sue52 · 31/12/2011 14:29

Cruel, nasty and racist. How could you find this at all amusing.

sheepgomeep · 31/12/2011 14:30

I used to do dating sites years ago, great if it turned out ok for you. I know a few people who have met, married etc from dating sites but I thought the whole thing was hideous, lots of shallow crappy people just after one thing.

I know how he would draw me.. pink and white patches like a patchwork blanket. I have vitiligo.

sheepgomeep · 31/12/2011 14:31

and yes I was desperate

AmberLeaf · 31/12/2011 14:32

Nasty and racist.

YuleingFanjo · 31/12/2011 14:33

seen it before. the one of the curly blonde woman always makes me laugh.

cardibach · 31/12/2011 14:34

I don't expect to 'get it' in the sense of finding it funny once it is explained, worra, I'm just curious as to what it is that some people are finding funny. SUrely that should be able to be put into words?

notveryinventive · 31/12/2011 14:40

Some were funny some not as much.

Is it bad that I actually would like him to draw me?

I think sometimes you do have to laugh at yourself, these are just caricatures of people which can be very funny.

Did think there were a couple of racist ones though, which I didnt think were funny, but some of them did give me a little chuckle.

TiggyD · 31/12/2011 14:42

Some were good. Good in that bad art is often funny. But many of the pictures were just unkind and sometimes obviously racist.

TheSpreadingChestnutTree · 31/12/2011 14:45

Yes, it's great to laugh at yourself, perhaps with family and friends in a situation where you feel secure, at a time of your choosing. Perhaps not so great to receive an unsolicited horrible charicature of yourself when you are in a vulnerable position. And why is misogyny ok but racism not Confused

overmydeadbody · 31/12/2011 14:45

Neither I nor my DP find those funny. Harsh, cruel and insensitive. Not to mention racist and sexist.

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 31/12/2011 14:46

Oh, I think that's horrible and cruel.

empirestateofmind · 31/12/2011 14:51

I have seen these before. I still think they're horrible.

Deargdoom · 31/12/2011 14:54

Not racist, sexist or anything. Just brilliant. Someone posted a response on page two which is nearly as good as the drawings.
The one about the moustache is wonderful.

AlwaysWild · 31/12/2011 14:56

Yay racism and misogyny. Such brilliance and genius Hmm

The third post on pistonheads manages to recognise the misogyny.

I also think it would be great if those who find it funny could explain why rather than glibly saying you have to 'get it'.

TiggyD · 31/12/2011 14:59

Deargdoom, if you see nothing racist about a picture of a black woman where she has been painted out like the background and just has her smile left, you're racist yourself.
