Went to the supermarket today and it was pandemonium. Asda is even open on new years day this year! Wtf are they all thinking?

Can only imagine tomorrow will be worse :-(

bet it was all booze and party food being bought

lubeybooby · 30/12/2011 18:30

YABU

It's nice to stock up properly and then not have to move or go out for anything for a few days

FlightRisk · 30/12/2011 18:32

Yes tesco was ridiculous we only went in because I was looking for a playing out coat for DS in the sale. He didn't get one, only little boys coats were in the sale so I bought one online from matalan when I got home. I wish a few people had taken a leaf out of my book xx

saythatagain · 30/12/2011 18:33

I feel your pain. We 'popped' to Morrisons....sweet Jesus, we queued for an hour. If there wasn't so much tumbleweed in the cupboards and fridge, we'd have walked out. Tsk

Today is my usual shopping day, really can't face it so may send dh :o

GreenEyesAndNiceHam · 30/12/2011 18:45

FlightRisk they were taking a leaf out of your book. They went to Tesco- like you did Grin

2kidsintow · 30/12/2011 18:46

I did Tesco today. Plenty of people looking for bargains, but no busier than it normally on a weekend.

alistron1 · 30/12/2011 18:47

I'm with lubeybooby. My xmas stores of nice stuff were getting low so I popped out today to top up. I have no intention of going to a supermarket/running out of nice things until next weekend Grin

Northernlurker · 30/12/2011 18:49

I'm just back from getting a few things in Sainsburys. Shelves were bare - particularly in meat and fresh food/fruit/veg aisles. Can't think what's wrong with people. I had to go somewhere else for cream.

Is it the apocalypse tomorrow or summat?

FlossieFromCrapstonVillas · 30/12/2011 18:49

About now is when the Christmas food runs out and people get stabby at the thought of another mince pie, I didn't think it was that bad today when I went out.

LaurieFairyCake · 30/12/2011 18:53

I bought enough (delivered) on the 22nd to not have to go shopping til next delivery on the 4th.

I am basically a mole at the moment - have barely been out the last 10 days. I love it.

rhondajean · 30/12/2011 18:57

It may have been made worse because I am still not feeling too well but honestly, it was like hell on earth in both tesco and Asda. I went into Asda because the first struggle round tesco left me with no fruit, etc. tomorrow I shall be going to sainsbos for bread and milk as its always quieter round here. I honestly couldn't face that again.

And no it wasnt all party food!

Ah but I wish they'd all given up and gone home and shopped online like I did Xx

GreenEyesAndNiceHam · 30/12/2011 19:08

Ah but how do you know they didn't?

FlightRisk · 30/12/2011 19:16

because they were lining up at the epic queues waiting tp pay as I walked out empty handed even the self serve was chocker block!!!

I didn't intend to go in anyway. DS's zip has broke on his other playing out coat and I had to go by Tesco for an appointment this morning. So thought I'd pop in. I'm quite glad they didn't have anything as it wouldn't have been a pop Xx
