in wanting the milkman to deliver fags?

It would just be so useful. I've got one of those 'lots of other stuff as well as milk' delivery accounts so when we are skint I often order things like bacon, eggs, veg, biscuits so we can have food for a day or to and not have to pay for it till the end of the month, but it would just be so handy if I could get a couple of packs of tobacco on the doorstep as well.

That's a wonderful idea.

My neighbours would steal them though.

I often wonder why the hospital shop doesn't sell fags. Most of the proceeds going towards the NHS and all that...

My grandad sold fags many many years ago on his ice cream van, he also sold bread and milk

Studies show that the easier it is to get fags the more we smoke - hence the legal restrictions and the no advertising.

The truth is that the more expensive and inconvenient you make it the less people take it up

What would be really good would be a wine man who came around in the evening and delivered beer and wine.

They could use the milk floats so the outlay would be minimal.

CHimes, the point of getting fags from the milkman is 'not having to pay for them till next week' as have no money. So while your taxi driver idea is not a bad one (and I do remember a 'boozecab' service in North London some years ago that you could phone at 4am if you had run out of beer and a six pack would arrive in a taxi.) it's no good to me right now.

I live a few doors away from the back gate of a secondary school - the ice cream van (all year round) sells weed but apparently the chap thinks tobacco is bad for you.
