To want you all to know there is a new weekly comic called The Phoenix and it looks bloody fantastic!!!!!

We managed to get a copy of the free one and all 3 of my kids were fighting over it.Dtwin boys 8 and dd 7.

It's full of fab stories,fantastic illustrations and different styles.

It's a whole world apart from all the other shite(Dandy and Beano not included).

Do have a look as if it takes off it could have an impact on the shite comics available at the moment(particularly for those aimed at girls).You never know we could get Bunty back!!!!!!!!!

There is a good website where you can see the work of many of the authors/artists.

There is a BBC story about it but not got time to search and link.

I do think they need to do a direct debit option though like you can with Beano. I've just paid £50 for 6 months(there is a year option or just a 3 month option I think) and the folder but I'd rather it went out of my back account in installments then a big chunk on a credit card.

Just got to sort out how to limit the rows now over who gets to read it first!

It works out about £2.10ish(under £2 if you get a year),bit more than Dandy but a lot cheaper than most of the shite filled with plastic tat.Seeing as I'll have 3 kids reading it,no plastic tat and it's a quality publication I think it's a bargain..

what sort of characters? is it action packed? funny? mine love dandy beano

It has got a variety,look on the website,they have snippets of lots of them.Mine thought Star Cat was funny but they liked The Pirates of Pangaea(looks like a pirate/dinosaur/sea faring adventure thing) best. Looks like Chris Riddell (Ottoline,my 3 love his illustrations)has done a bit in it.

The website gives you a good taste of it.

this sounds like the answer to a quandry of what could ds read.his sister had sparkle magazine for a while but growing out of that and i think there a re far to many magazines aimed at girls that are far to make up/boy based.is it too much to ask for something decent.i overheard someone talking about pheonix in waitrose lasrt week but didnt have enough balls to ask them about it!

They do a taster subscription-1st 5 copies for £10,the 3 months is £24.I went for 6 months as I wanted the free binder.

I would be one happy mummy if Bunty came back,there was a MNer trying to do something about it but not sure how far she got.
