To think the biggest coal mine in the country

Shouldn't be allowed to be shut down? A pit that can keep 1000 people in well paid work for at least 20 years is going to be shut. The only media outlet that seems interested is Aljazeera. Why aren't the BBC and Sky News all over this? Especially given the parlous state of our economy.

Horrible job but no-one is getting a payrise. If miners want to put themselves out of work then what can the owners do? it isn't a profitable mine anyway. Companies cannot run at a loss just because.

Thanks for the links. Massive fines for work related deaths are fine by me. Would much prefer directors going to jail though.
