I'm not going to bore you, or out myself, with the details but after a week of:

witnessing casual racism (MIL/FIL/BIL);
witnessing sexism directed at DD (MIL/FIL/BIL/nephews);
witnessing shockingly poor parenting (BIL/his wife);
finding myself on the wrong end of a BF vs FF / WOHM vs SAHM debate that I refused to engage with and so inevitably lost (dad's wife - well if I'd found myself a sugar daddy and broken up a family in the process maybe I wouldn't have had to go back to work either you stupid bitch - won't even go there on the BF/FF one);

and much, much more...

I've bitten my tongue so much I now look like <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=forked+tongue&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1280&bih=709&tbm=isch&tbnid=6aWagys67xm2BM:&imgrefurl=www.only-apartments.com/news/forked-tongue/&docid=3bURevjkTqt7gM&imgurl=www.only-apartments.com/images/only-apartments/1196/forked-tongue.jpg&w=500&h=349&ei=tjj6TqnPDYeU8gPzlPnCAQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=804&vpy=198&dur=1122&hovh=187&hovw=269&tx=115&ty=65&sig=104850619218317679773&page=1&tbnh=153&tbnw=208&start=0&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:0" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this

I've had all that I can stands and I can stands no more.

So that's it. IANBU and neither are you.

sorry Annie Grin

I've had a lovely Christmas really. Time I spent with DH and the children has been perfect. If only we could have kept the rest of the family out of it!!

I stay at home at Christmas. I dont visit anyone and no-one visits us.
This may seem sad to some people but I like it that way.

Much better than being nice to people who are twonks and having to listen to the twonks getting twonkier with each drink they consume.

chipmonkey · 27/12/2011 22:19

I'm with Mrs DeVere! From midnight on Christmas Eve till midnight on St Stephens Day ( Boxing Day to most of you!Wink) it's just me, dh and the dc's. Bliss.

ViviPrudolf · 27/12/2011 22:26

Yep we're the same, Mrs DV and chipmonkey. I have not one gripe to report this Christmas other than with Kenwood for designing the processor attachment to only work with titanium models of the chef mixer series. The bastards. I'm well fangry about that.

I genuinely sympathise with you though OP, its like you're the ghost of Christmas present showing me a version of reality that I would have had, had we caved into 'duty' and shared our Christmas Sad

TroublesomeEx · 27/12/2011 22:32

so long as I can be the Muppet version of The Ghost of Christmas Present, I'm happy.

We have decided to follow in the footsteps you wise folk next year and stick to ourselves and no one else.

We did spend Christmas day itself on our own and it was bliss! I think next year we might extend it to include the other days too...
