Ok I very very very rarely wear judgey pants but Im just back from Gamestop,I was standing in a long line to pay when I heard s guy ask his son "now your sure this is what you want, Your sure its Modern warfare, nor world of war craft?"
THE KID WAS 4 TOPS !!!!!!!.
honest to god the wee thing was barely the hight of the barrier separating the line from the rest of the store. Speechless I was and that takes a lot.

Disgusting. you'd think a dada would know what type of game his kids would like

HecateGoddessOfTwelfthNight · 26/12/2011 18:27

aren't those games 18+?

Sirzy · 26/12/2011 18:29

What's wrong with Mario brothers and things is the child wants to play computer games? Surely the 18 label is a clue they aren't suitable for such little children?

Magneto · 26/12/2011 18:30

Wow is a 12, we bought it for 12 and 11 year old relatives but no way would I get it for a 4 year old.

Wow is also much tamer than modern warfare (which is an 18).

lljkk · 26/12/2011 18:30

:(. I'd feel the same.

purpleknittingmum · 26/12/2011 18:33

I remember years ago there was something in the paper about one of these type of games had a problem with it, can't quite remember what the issue was, but parents not happy etc, writing to company, but the game was a bloody 18 and the child was about 6!

iklboonkey · 26/12/2011 18:36

Bet he wanted the game himself & was using the lad as an 'excuse'.

ThePathanKhansWitch · 26/12/2011 18:38

I just want to know where they get these uber-smart children from?

My 4yo dd can't stick a bit of tissue to card with a drama.

Last year she had a go at my nephews nintendo, pressed a few buttons, then walked away with a cats bum face.Totally meh.

I'm not sure if she's a Luddite or very unintelligent.

LordOfTheFlies · 26/12/2011 18:43
Shock

When we go to Game they won't serve my DS (who is 12 yo) even if we are beside him ,if he's buying a 15 game. (We let him play 15/16 Halo/Assassins Creed games)

And if I buy for him they ask me "Is it for him? You know its a 15?"
The 'well your child, your rules, we can't stop you buying it' look.

But 4 yo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HowlingBitch · 26/12/2011 18:45

YANBU. I would have pulled my judgey pants up over my head and ran in circles yelling "Bad parent!"

Call of duty is a horrible game at any age IMO.

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 26/12/2011 18:46

It's not fair on the poor child at all.

LordOfTheFlies · 26/12/2011 18:47

Or maybe the dad was having a joke?
In poor taste.

squeakytoy · 26/12/2011 18:49

pathanskhans, I agree with you. I dont know any 4yo who would be able to play any of those sort of games...

discrete · 26/12/2011 18:52

Ds1 is 5 and could not begin to use the controls on either of those games took me long enough to get the hang of them

FullOfFestiveSpirits · 26/12/2011 18:53

YANBU. My DH has Call of Duty, Modern Warfare, and he was shocked by the violence, and won'tlet our 11yr olds play it, and he has also asked our neighbour not to let them play it round theirs, even though they say "our 9yr old likes to play it". Judgy Pants would have been up over my head if I'd been there! Xmas Smile

gallicgreetings · 26/12/2011 18:54

DP gets this all the time at work. If he refuses to sell to the parent, he gets grief from his boss for not hitting targets. If the parent also complains to head office, they usually overrule DP. Trading Standards should be as tough on restricted games as they are on alcohol and cigarettes.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 26/12/2011 18:56

Those games are piss easy tbh, just point and shoot.

Mr and dp both like our games, as do the kids, they'd have been able to tackle it aged four.......they prefer frogger tho Xmas Wink

ViviPrudolf · 26/12/2011 20:49

Frogger Xmas Grin Awesome.

My Atari fave was Tutankhamun

roundcornsilkvirgin · 26/12/2011 21:01

World of warcraft is a 12 so not as bad as modern warfare, but there's no way a 4 year old could play it. Far too complicated.
