due here at 4 for meal at 5. Strange time of meal to suit them. No sign of them yet. Is that rude or aibu?

Wanted relaxed arrival with a welcome drink then sit down at 5. Now will be come in drink this sit down quick!

YANBU,though what's so odd about eating at 5?

LaFilleSurLePont · 26/12/2011 17:49

I presume that they're there now.

Trills · 26/12/2011 18:20

They are due at your house at 4, in order to have a meal at 5?

If it's at your house them aren't you the one choosing the timings?

And I think any time up til about 9pm is a suitable time to have "a meal".

YABU, or at least YAB a bit strange.

MummyAnnabella · 26/12/2011 19:50

Okay maybe I wasn't clear enough. They were invited to come for early tea at 5/530 but they suggested they come at 4 instead so wouldn't be out too late. I think 5 perfectly acceptable time for meal. thought 4 a slightly strange time to eat as neither really lunch nor tea. Was happy to oblige though.

However......they have a habit of being a bit late so I planned drinks etc and to have food served at 430/500. Just thought having requested earlier time it was a little rude to arrive at 440. No?.

you were kind to bring the time of the meal forward and they should have arrived on time. They were rude to arrive 40 mins late.

squeakytoy · 26/12/2011 20:12

Did they ring to let you know they were running late? If not then that was rude.

Other than that... the time itself is not unreasonable for sitting down to eat a meal.

MummyAnnabella · 26/12/2011 20:19

No not phone call. Did mention they had been sales shopping though.

I'm not massively bothered as like I say they have habit of being late so I planned food a little later but I thought if you requested an earlier time then surely you would be on time? That's what I thought a little rude really.
