To wish our Christmas day had been a bit more exiting?

Ok I realise I am probably being unreasoable here, just wondering how unreasonable......

I love Christmas and try to make the day fun but DB, SIL & DM always have one glass of wine with dinner (if that), stay for an hour and then go home. I like to get merry, have a sing song, play games and generally have a laugh. AIBU to expect my family to be a bit less boring on Christmas day?

Jeez OP read the other threads and be grateful or at least get some perspective. Personally I don't give a shet your family is boring your choice what you do with Christmas Day.

Some people are happy to just have a chilled out relaxing day, not getting shitfaced, singing, or playing games... Grin

Have a sing song? Sounds like a fucking nightmare to me. And anyway - be thankful your Christmas passed without incident, illness or downright unpleasantness.

hiddenhome · 25/12/2011 21:19

Crikey, you should be grateful compared to what some people have had to put up with Hmm

I went into work this morning to be met by an ambulance taking one of the residents to hospital because he'd fallen out of bed and did his face and arm in Sad I bet he'd rather be bored right now.

I hear you. It seems like a Hell of a lot of money and time to spend, just to all sit on the sofa in silence with a tin of Roses.

I totally get you, if you can't have fun at Christmas when can you? YANBU.

Not sure why some people have to be quite so mean with their responses Hmm

squeakytoy · 25/12/2011 23:44

You are not the sister who is currently throwing up after drinking wine, amaretto and then wrestling with her brother are you? Grin

fatfingers · 25/12/2011 23:48

YANBU but maybe you need to rethink who you spend Christmas with next year. We have spent the day at PILs where everyone had a few drinks after dinner, FIL got the accordion out and we all had a sing along, a laugh and a chat. DCs had the Wii on and everyone joined in with the dancing game. Some people seem to think the alternative to boredom is getting shitfaced or creating a huge drama. There is a happy medium.

My Christmas day has been just one long slog if I am honest. Love the morning when it's just us and kids then once family start visiting I just feel like I am on the go all the time and don't spend my time with my children. Every year I say I am gonna do things differently and every year I am the one that's knackered. Husband been brilliant keeping toys sorted etc but I certainly haven't had a great Christmas day cos I have hardly sat down and feel bit deflated actually :(
