I woke up at 4 am and couldn't get back to sleep. I got up and went downstairs and for about 30 seconds, I heard that classic 'jingling' sound of Santa's sleigh, accompanied by (what sounded like) hooves clicking.

My family think I'm slightly barmy and I promise I hadn't been drinking. It must have been Santa, what other explanation is there?

I wonder if somebody was doing it for their children?

FabbyChic - there MUST be a Santa because he heard my wish and came to visit me last night for the first time in 50 years!

DamnDeDoubtance · 25/12/2011 20:36

I heard the same thing when I was about twelve, really freaked me out

hiddenhome · 25/12/2011 21:22

Santa does exist Grin

norrishohoholeforsaviour · 25/12/2011 21:25

Oh I just really feel that Xmas Eve is somehow sooo magical that anything can happen ( and I'm 47 ...) I always look out of the window and spot something. Long may it last Grin

mycatsaysach · 25/12/2011 21:28

well

one year dd and i were out with friends at dusk and we spotted, just for a second, a v shaped flock of birds flying off for winter lit up by the moon (or poss sunset) - looked for all the world like santa's sleigh.

At about 11:30pm i heard what sounded like church bells playing twinkle twinkle little star. It was only a little bit of it though.
I thought i as going nuts, but dd1 said she heard it too.

FizzyChristmasFairyDust · 25/12/2011 21:33

I woke up at about 1am in the early hours of Xmas Eve and I was certain I heard sleigh bells, I must have been dreaming!

MissMogwi · 25/12/2011 21:41

DD2 is adamant that she heard Reindeer's on the roof last night and Santa's footsteps. It was the first thing she said this morning and she was so sure Grin

She's 7, so I'm making the most of it. DD1 (10) had this face Hmm oh to be so sophisticated!

Charlene1 · 25/12/2011 21:59

Ha! I was telling my kids today that when I was little, I once heard sleigh bells and hooves on the roof!! They and everyone else think I'm barmy too!! I always think anything is possible!!

crashdoll · 25/12/2011 22:20

Now, I wish I'd left out a mince pie for father christmas. He must think I'm terribly stingy. Sad I haven't left out a snack for FC since I was about 5!

I'm starting to get all nostalgic for class A's now myself. Been a while since I heard sleigh bells on Xmas eve.

BaldricksTurnip · 25/12/2011 22:45

Kid you not- last night at about midnight DH and I were just about to go upstairs after wrapping the kids presents and placing them in piles in front of the fire place, when from right outside our window we heard a gruff male voice say 'Ho ho ho, Merry Christmas'! DH looked outside but couldn't see anyone, and we live in a very quiet terrace. Neighbours away so couldn't have been them. DH looked at me, then at presents and said 'God, I hope we're not treading on his toes..!' Can't think it can have been anyone other than the big man, and am now a believer again for the first time since I was 7 :o

SenseofEntitlement · 25/12/2011 22:50

Oooh, I'm all tingly!

When me and the DDs were putting out reindeer food last night - and I had to carry them one by one as they didn't have shoes on, so it wasn't them - I SWEAR we heard sleigh bells. Our garden kind of juts out into our little group of houses, and I couldn't see anything.

I was more impressed than the children. They just kind of shrugged - of course we could hear sleigh bells, it was Christmas Eve, Santa was obviously making deliveries in the area.
