My mum is a funny old stick, as she gets on in years and the white wine consumption increases she becomes more and more bonkers.

So, a little extra for DS's Christmas arrives in the post. I open it up, and find a mens large skull cap thing. It is the kind of thing one would wear under motor cycle helmut. It is black, made of the cheapest nastiest scratchy material, it is black with skulls dripping blood and looking really scary all over it.

DS is 3. he is scared of the dark, thinks there may or may not be a wolf upstairs.

She calls up,, "hey gapants did you get that thing in the post? I thought it would be great for DS for dressing up!"

I of course say oh thanks mum, he will love it, that is really kind.

So WIBU to "lose" it? I know DS would be terrified of it, it is really scary. I showed DH whose only response was "what was she thinking?"

Grin that could be my mum or my sister . Who sent my dd (also age 3) an "amusing " cult book for her birthday that is basically an a b c type book with every page illustrated by a different way a child can die (eg a is for Annie who fell down the stairs).
I am still at a loss as to why she thought this was good...

(and it's still on shelf waiting to be given away.. Although I think it's so vile I may bin it).

So Yanbu and loose the hat.

Lose even Blush

Gapants · 23/12/2011 20:32

gigondas that book sounds lovely! You reminded me of my friends Dad who is in fact a lovely man but sees terror and threat in every situation. He clocks that I am heavily pregnant and then starts to tell me about how many women used to die in childbirth. His DIL shows him a beautiful antique clock she has bought, his response...Oh if that fell off the wall it would kill a child. "Kill it dead, on the head" were his words. [shocked]
