To think that my well off Auntie could have bought me a house warmer as well

My niece has recently moved into her first house and my much well off auntie bought her some vouchers to spend as she wishes.
I moved house a alittle while before my niece I recieved some gifts off some of my family which was very nice.
Nothing off my auntie I was out with my auntie and other members of my family when my auntie bought the vouchers for my niece.
I feel quite hacked off about it tbh.
My mom my aunties sister said its because my auntie was invited for tea to my nieces house whereas my auntie has just been along for a look at my house and a cup of tea and cake.
My mom agrees though that its not really fair.

What the jeffers do you buy her, Mrs DV? And would you get her a housewarmer?

Pantofino · 23/12/2011 21:09

Ooh now there is an interesting question. If your niece is an international superstar - a Boots voucher just isn't going to cut it, is it? ;-)

I often wonder - well that might be a slight exaggeration - what the Royal Family do for Xmas....what would you buy Grannie if she was the Queen? Nice smellies?

OtterBaubles · 23/12/2011 21:13

I think she looks like the kind of young lady who would be pleased with any gift. Some pretty jewellery from New Look? Or some nice gloves? A chocolate orange?

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 23/12/2011 21:14

I dont buy none of them nuffin.

How bloody long to you think it would take me to shop for all that lot?

I made her a nice scarf for her 21st (true story).

Haha I am such a batty old aunt.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 23/12/2011 21:15

You guessed right first time everlong

At least I know what Billie would look like now. Smile

SuePurblybiltbyElves · 23/12/2011 21:15

Here, LL, international superstar. Have some nice gloves from Asda and an own-brand chocolate orange Grin

lol at chocolate orange. I would LOVE a chocolate orange - would have to be Terry's though, not Asda cos I is posh. Well dh wrapped "bought" me some perfume. Um, my dsis has bought me a present! My dad sent my sister his winter fuel payment to subsidise Xmas! Hmm So another reason for means taxing this maybe.......

Pantofino · 23/12/2011 21:37

Did Billie want to follow the same sort of career path, Mrs D? Of she could have wanted to be an accountant, or a dr or anything....She was so beautiful.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 23/12/2011 21:40

She wanted to be a model, a lawyer and a dancer.
she woud have been too.
She was beautiful and clever and a brilliant dancer.

I am pinning my hopes on DC4 being a dr. When he is asked what he wants to be he answers 'peadiatric oncologist'.
Its only taken me 6 months to train him to say that Xmas Grin
He is 3. Haha.

Pantofino · 23/12/2011 21:52

Aw bless him! I had to collect dd early from school today as she had a "headache". She has never had a headache before. By the time I got to school I was convinced it was meningitus, brain tumour etc (as per another thread I have extreme illness phobia). I think she has a bit of a bug. How the hell you coped with Billie's illness.......

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 23/12/2011 21:55

It took load of bribes before he got it right Smile

You just do cope. You dont think you ever can but you do.
I have issues with medical stuff so can sympathise with your phobia. Its hard work isnt it?

Pantofino · 23/12/2011 22:05

I tell dd that if we are poorly we take some medicine or go see the doctor. They make it all better. Unfortunately I think because of my memories - like yours I guess - I know that it just isn't true......always....I make great pains to not pass on my fear.

Still we should not be maudlin. We have lovely little children excited about Xmas. I will raise a glass and remember your beautiful Billie and all that she could have been. Have a lovely Xmas! ((hugs))

SuePurblybiltbyElves · 23/12/2011 22:06

own-brand chocolate oranges for all....

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 23/12/2011 22:10

And wine,
Lots of lovely wine.

So this weird thread took an even weirder turn hey? Xmas Grin

SuePurblybiltbyElves · 23/12/2011 22:12

Twas ever thus. All the best threads do.

hmc · 23/12/2011 22:22

Oh stop being so rancid and leave off with the vitriol aimed at the OP. I do marvel at what makes some of you jaundiced Misanthropists tick - yuck

Pantofino · 23/12/2011 22:34

I reckon Terry's make ALL the choc oranges! I have been to the factory where they made Sudafed, and they also made the much cheaper Tesco version etc using the same patent.
