to wonder how MNers find the time

I am guilty of this massively at the moment so I put my hands up to it but hope it's only a phase (or I am doomed).
But how do other posters manage to be so active/prolific on here and still do parenting/RL? Are there not DPs/DCs looking over your shoulder wondering why you're spending so much time here? Are there ANY pressies being wrapped/turkeys getting stuffed at all?
Or have your families just given up on you and see this husk of a former mother tapping away at the computer... (typing each other to death, hah! No it isn't me btw).
Or do you do it on your phone thingies and so it just looks like texting/working out xmas budget on shopping app?

Sid- are you on the wine already?

MsEltoeNWhine · 23/12/2011 11:26

DP is at work. DD is playing upstairs. The presents are wrapped and under the tree. The shopping is done. The beds are made, we're clean and dressed, the washing machine is on, the room could do with a vac up but I suspect DD will want to craft this afternoon so little to no point until then really. Upstairs is tidy and mostly clean, some stuff to go in the loft before the big day in a pile in the spare room. Can't go out as I'm waiting in for the last of the Christmas deliveries, planning on watching the ballet this afternoon with DD and baking some yummy Christmas food later.

Fair enough I've a large pile of paperwork and writing to do but I won't have a chance to actually get into it before DD interrupts me, and stopping and starting would be even worse.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 23/12/2011 11:27

I am crushed. Your wit and ability to put me in my place has destroyed me.
I hope you are happy Sid.
Happy Christmas.

Car is banjaxed so no going anywhere (as it's raining, otherwise walk would be on the cards), DH is looking after DS, I'm having a coffee and a crumpet. DH ensures I have plenty of time to MN, I think he thinks it'll stop me moaning at him. It works most of the time. I still need to get beds ready for guests arriving later, hoover, clean etc etc etc but I couldn't be arsed. Twill be grand.

On other days when DH is at work I normally MN while DS is asleep which these days can be anywhere up to two hours a day. That's my down time and I absolutely refuse to do anything else in that time unless it's urgent.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 23/12/2011 11:30

What about all the hard work our Grandmother's put in Sid?
Hmm?

What have you been doing for your country lately apart from bereating the laaaydees of MN?

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 23/12/2011 11:30

Ahem Grandmothers

lubeybaublely · 23/12/2011 11:32

Everything is done and I'm off work

I only have one DC though, and a teen one at that which probably helps.

CarolCervix · 23/12/2011 11:33

I have staff. I highly recommend it.

redlac · 23/12/2011 11:34

I MN at work and in the evenings my DH becomes a professional footballer and/or solider on his xbox so lots of time for MNing

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 23/12/2011 11:35

Anyway...
I cant do nuffin cos the cat wont get off me.

Do you want me to push her roughly to the floor?!
Well DO you?

whatstheetiquette · 23/12/2011 11:37

Mnetting is something you can do in bursts of 1 minute. So filling gaps. You can also so it for hours on end!

Hullygully · 23/12/2011 11:40

I think you mean:

It's not fair. No one knows who I am.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 23/12/2011 11:43

I just put the washing on and dressed two kids since my last post
ta dah!

CailinDana · 23/12/2011 11:47

Misinterpreted.

duvetdayplease · 23/12/2011 11:51

I put the computer nearby and type little bits in between pushing a train around and being shouted at for attaching Gordon's tender to the back of Thomas silly mummy. If I just pushed the train around and did nothing else would go utterly mad.

Evenings I am mostly on here because I hate watching telly and my husband does bedtime, I sometimes pretend I am doing something worthy but if I laugh it gives the game away.

HecateGoddessOfTwelfthNight · 23/12/2011 11:52

mn is fully incorporated into my daily routine Grin

In the morning I get the children ready for school. While they're having breakfast I log onto my internet bank and check the accounts. I log onto mn. Then I see them off to school.

When the children are at school I am working/mning. I work from home. I spend 8 - 10 hours a day in the office in total. I dip in and out of mn during that time, do some work, read a thread, maybe comment, do some work, read a thread... so it probably looks like I am here all day Grin

I'll take an hour or so in the morning to do some cleaning, but the proper deep cleaning happens on a weekend.

I break off to go and fetch the children from school. I give them dinner, have a chat and hand them over to my husband while I go back into the office to do a couple more hours work.

Then it's off again to be with them, help with any homework, give them lots of cuddles and start the bedtime routine, then once they're settled it's onto the pc for some games and mn before logging off and sitting down with my husband and making him stroke my feet before bed Grin

Weekends and school holidays it's just a bit of everything. Work when I can, mn when I'm working, drop everything if the children need me. Cleaning. Sunday is ironing day. I can be found in the bedroom for at least 5 hours, ironing and watching crappy tv Grin

I take one day out a week and go to visit my mum and sister. We usually go round all the local charity shops and have a rummage. I do the weekly shop on the way home.

I have a very very dull life Grin

tryingtoleave · 23/12/2011 11:53

I just got out of the shower and picked up iPad while I sat drip-drying. Most of my mnetting is done while I sit with the dcs as they go to sleep ( I suppose that is another mn crime)

trulyscrumptious43 · 23/12/2011 11:53

That would be a good thread:
What have you done since your last post:

Truly - walked the dog in the rain the deliver a xmas card to long lost friend who has moved from next door to half a mile away

Now your turn....

OP posts:
hazeyjane · 23/12/2011 11:56

got ds to sleep
made mince pie pastry with dds
tidied
hoovered
put on washing
found comics and pens for dds

now cuddling sleepy ds while girls colour in comics.

scottishmummy · 23/12/2011 12:01

iPad
iPhone
batch cook and freeze meals
all Xmas shopping done and wrapped
All Xmas prep done eg soup made, stocks and bread made
kids in bed for 7ish
then cuppa tea jump of sofa cursory glance at telly, nada on....so it is mn time

hazeyjane · 23/12/2011 12:03

oh forgot, cooked lunch.

I either do cursory glance, quick post, during day whilst doing stuff - a bit like texting friends. or settle down for long threads, prpoper chats in evening or middle of night, if up with ds.

CydCharisse · 23/12/2011 12:05

walked dog
dropped in cards to neighbour
dropped off forgotten belongings at friends house
popped to shop for bread (all with dog)
hung out some washing and put another load on
done two bits of tedious admin

scottishmummy · 23/12/2011 12:07

I work ft,so that determines mn usage
