to wonder how MNers find the time

I am guilty of this massively at the moment so I put my hands up to it but hope it's only a phase (or I am doomed).
But how do other posters manage to be so active/prolific on here and still do parenting/RL? Are there not DPs/DCs looking over your shoulder wondering why you're spending so much time here? Are there ANY pressies being wrapped/turkeys getting stuffed at all?
Or have your families just given up on you and see this husk of a former mother tapping away at the computer... (typing each other to death, hah! No it isn't me btw).
Or do you do it on your phone thingies and so it just looks like texting/working out xmas budget on shopping app?

Do it at work. My guilty pleasure (shame MNing is about all I can manage as a guilty pleasure!) Xmas Grin.

Fo0ffysFestiveShmooffery · 23/12/2011 10:26

LeQueen please can I request that you start a " work smart not hard " thread?

I think it would kick the crap out of the flyladyGrin

many of the 'prolific' poster double up and get their children to post on their behalf. You notice the difference when all of the swearing starts...Hmm

lljkk · 23/12/2011 10:36

I can't concentrate on anything, any project I start entails at least 4 interruptions every 10 minutes. MN is the only thing I can do inbetween all the other micro-tasks. Otherwise I'd be sitting reading the paper or texting or I dunno what, drinking a cup of tea & waiting for the next time my services are called upon.

Also, I MN whilst eating (soon to stop when I get new laptop :)). I eat a lot...

Canella · 23/12/2011 10:36

SAHM but dc out at school/kindergarten all morning. I dont MN till I've got all my daily jobs done & am really firm to myself about it. But since its on my ipod touch (which I am surgically attached to) then I dip in and out then the rest of the day when the dc are busy doing something else.

Witchofthenorth · 23/12/2011 11:06

My kids are feral and are running amok, the dogs out back, no presents have been bought yet and the tree and decorations are lying in a pile in the corner, my house is like a hovel and we now eat from paper plates.Christmas dinner will consist of pot noodles. I have more important things to do (like mums netting) rather than being a mother! Xmas Wink

Just kidding!!!:):):) I just rush around doing everything really fast, then I an have the whole rest of the day on the computer.

CydCharisse · 23/12/2011 11:09

I made sure that I married a man who is a great cook, likes keeping the house tidy and irons way better than me. Makes life really easy Grin

HoneydragonAteCliffRichard · 23/12/2011 11:10

Truly

Your tone was fine Smile I was teasing as post like this can attract people who like to lecture the evils if mnet and "won't someone think of the children" brigade Grin

Dd has popped up for a feed, I am meant to be cleaning the house in preparation for THE BIG SHOP this afternoon

Then I have to do the Xmas ironing ... or I may just decorate the heap with tinsel.

CalatalieSisters · 23/12/2011 11:11

I used to find this site and Twitter a real problem -- always there on tap to undermine my concentration and commitment to other tasks. I've found leechblock on firefox and similar software on other browsers to be a real boon. I do feel for some of the prolific posters. It isn't really a very good way of spending our days.

startail · 23/12/2011 11:13

On my iPod, when I should be cleaning and tidying. Which I hate.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 23/12/2011 11:14

Come off it, OP, of course you meant to start a bunfight. AIBU is the home of the bunfight. You just sound dopey trying to backtrack. Start your thread and stand by it. You DID mean it. Xmas Wink

BrandyAlexander · 23/12/2011 11:16

Usually mn when bf. Was prolific in the summer when on mat leave and had a newborn. Made a world of difference and wish had had it with dc1. Sadly, ds (7 month) is a more efficient feeder now!

rabbid · 23/12/2011 11:17

mine are older but 'husk of a former mother' does rankle somewhat
