I am furious. We have a small bb and a nearly 5 year old. DH comes home tonight and announces he will be going out at mid night and return on time to get in the taxi to go to airport.WTF?????

He is going to some fancy x mas do and argues this is the start of his x mas break and he wants to have fun.
I have spent all day preparing , sorting , getting ready for holiday and now he will be all tired and not able to help out. Traveling with small children is stressful and I will not be able to get to sleep. Am I being U?

Why didn't you know about the Christmas do?

I'd say fine but you still have to pull your weight at 5am.

Is he normally a cock though about stuff like this? - if so, you've got bigger problems.

HandMini · 22/12/2011 20:22

Hmm, a bit weird that something so important has to come out of the blue? But if he's home now, and can put in four hours of packing and prep, I say let him go if he wants to be knackered tomorrow.

NinkyNonker · 22/12/2011 20:29

He's going out at midnight?!

Ifancyashandy · 22/12/2011 20:31

Confused, he's going OUT at midnight or coming home at midnight?

Ifancyashandy · 22/12/2011 20:31

X post Ninky!

sitandnatter · 22/12/2011 20:32

My bro used to keep things quiet as he'd get a roasting before and a roasting after, so if he didn't tell her he'd save the roasting before. Not saying he is right but how reasonable are you. No need to answer just a thought to ponder.

This sounds very strange- do his work parties usually start at midnight? I would not be happy in your shoes and would make it very clear. When exactly is your Christmas break?

troisgarcons · 22/12/2011 20:33

out at midnight? how bizarre.

Tryharder · 22/12/2011 20:33

What sort of "do" starts at midnight?

He is unreasonable - I suppose he is expecting to sleep on the plane whilst you mind the DCs.

Sounds a bit odd, really. I wouldn't be at all happy if i were you.

Out at midnight? Xmas Hmm

Sirzy · 22/12/2011 20:47

As long as he is aware he has to help with things on the trip with no complaining I would just let him go.

thisisyesterday · 22/12/2011 20:48

fab, you can go alone and leave him at home :-D

seriously though, he is being a dick and I'd be having very stern words if I were you

nailak · 22/12/2011 20:49

Go out before he does, leave a note saying you will be back by four.thirty.and expect everything to be ready,

slavetofilofax · 22/12/2011 20:53

He's going out a midnight? Xmas Hmm

Have you asked him if he's having an affair?

ScorpionQueen · 22/12/2011 21:05

I'm afraid Slave just said what we are all thinking.
:(

KenDoddsDadsDog · 22/12/2011 21:17

Odd! I wouldn't be too happy.

maras2 · 22/12/2011 21:43

Just to add to the others ......... Who on earth goes out at midnight.Tell him to grow the heck up,go to bed at a reasonable hour and pull his flipping weight.Sorry to be on the moral high ground Ginger but no bloke that I've ever known would pull this stunt, and I've known some losers.Good luck anyway. Mx.

smartyparts · 22/12/2011 21:49

Inconceivable! He sounds like a selfish arse.

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/12/2011 22:29

I thought affair but surely no one would be that blatant.

slavetofilofax · 22/12/2011 23:30

You would think MrsTerry.

But my Aunts husband was having an affair and he was very blatant. He drove down here (South) to see us from Scotland one year, with my Aunt obviously. Apparantly as soon as he got home, he told my Aunt that he was taking her car 'out for a run' because it had been still in the cold weather for five days. Hmm At that point, she was still refusing to believe he was having an affair, or she genuinely believed him. I'm not sure which!

ShengdanRoad · 23/12/2011 00:38

Leave the bastard.

ageperfect · 23/12/2011 01:09

so where are you op???? He is such a crap{sorry}. Cant believe it||||||||||||
