I like the one from the James Bond film 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'... "Do you know how Chistmas trees are grown"...

I'll concede that there a few good lyrics in it.
But the tune and the singing are shite.

'white wine in the sun' is the best christmas song ever. (but 'fairytale of new york' is a close 2nd...) i like

As for the tune and the singing being shit, well yes Shane sounds pissed. But that's part of his charm. But Kirsty was one of our finest singers in her own way, before she met her sad end. The tune and the instrumentation are perfect - the solo piano starting, bringing in the singers and the rest of the band joining in. It's a beautiful, bittersweet song.

OMG-the Florence & Billy Bragg-that is seriously awful.

No it's not charming. It just sounds like very bad, off-key, pissed singing.

I agree Kirsty was a very fine singer - much much better than Shane. And of course, it's a tragedy she is no longer with us. But he just ruins the whole song. (I loved Her Tropical Rainstorm album btw).

And the tune is a dirge particularly at the beginning. And then it gets all Irish jiggy. And I don't like Irish jiggy.

So - ner.
