Well the last time I looked in my village there was no White Company shop, Amazon, Lakeland or even a common as muck GAP. The grocers is lovely but not everyone wants sprouts wrapped up for Christmas...

Hulababy · 18/12/2011 22:17

To be fair though if you use an online store and they say they will deliver within a certain time, and charge you accordingly, then why shouldn't people complain if they don't keep to it?

I have used online today because the shop in town didn't have the items I wanted in stock and won't have them in time, so online was my only option to get them - I am now hoping they do arrive in time. The alternative would have been to have to start again thining of ideas.

Pancakeflipper · 18/12/2011 22:18

Actually I don't think I have ever complained about internet delivery services.

erm. I'm confused.

If you buy a service, it is not unreasonable to expect that service. and if you don't get the service that you have paid for, it is not unreasonable to complain about it.

They aren't doing people a favour by dropping their goods at their houses. It is a service that has been paid for. Either included in the price of the item(s) or as a seperate charge.

I don't understand why it isn't ok to complain about not receiving an acceptable standard of service. That you've paid for.

LineRunnerCrouchingReindeer · 18/12/2011 22:23

OP, you have never lived in Northumberland without a car.

DaisySteiner · 18/12/2011 22:24

What a bizarre OP. Presumably if someone posted that they'd been sold moldy bread it would be their own fault for not baking it themselves, then?

JarethTheGoblinKing · 18/12/2011 22:27

Bog off OP.

If I order something on 5 December, I expect it to be delivered before Christmas, and for the seller to not get shitty with me when I speak to them on Friday 16th (when it was meant to be delivered by the 14th at the latest).

It finally turned up today.

No I will not go down to the fucking shops.. its mayhem down there and if I can get something a) cheaper online and b) with free delivery and c) ordered 3 fecking weeks before Christmas I expect it delivered to my fecking front door!

so.. I reiterate. Bog the fuck off.

MadameOvary · 18/12/2011 22:28

The people who complain about Internet deliveries are doing the rest of us a favour. Yodel for example has an awful track record and I made sure I was in for it as i didn't want the hassle of trying to collect it or arranging a redelivery through a badly-staffed national-rate phone number.

Minshu · 18/12/2011 22:29

OP - who is forcing you to read these complaints? I'm really sorry, but you should leave the controlling, abusive f&cker... Xmas Wink

PreviouslyonLost · 18/12/2011 22:30

OP...With landslides, dangerous roads, multiple accidents blocking ALL routes out of this god forsaken place...I'd DIE without Internet shopping, even if all my orders were cancelled last year due to the big freeze (and I'm charged, on average, £9 extra per delivery due to postcode Angry

HoneydragonAteCliffRichard · 18/12/2011 22:31

Pancakeflipper TBF you don't know that for a fact until you've tried, I'm sure the DCs little faces would positively light up when they opened them Grin

A1980 · 18/12/2011 22:33

I can see why people get pissed at poor delivery service. It's 2011 not 1911. There really is no excuse.

But I did read one post that said they were "utterly appalled and shocked" by the delivery policies... WTF!

I'm appalled and shocked by alot of things in this life. Internet deliveries ain't one of them.

thisisyesterday · 18/12/2011 22:33

Pancake

My friend wrapped up a load of sprouts in Ferrero Rocher wrappers, and put them back in the box as a joke present.

Turned out the recipient preferred the sprouts Grin

WorraLiberty · 18/12/2011 22:39

I'd sooner read about deliveries than the infinite amount of MIL moaning that's going on.

usualsuspect · 18/12/2011 22:42

MIL moaning could be an Olympic sport on MN

WorraLiberty · 18/12/2011 22:44

Yup! Especially at Christmas Lol
