Everyone looks at their iPod and feel proud that they have a bit of classical, bit of country, bit of metal, bit of folk, bit of indie .... SNORE

I, however, definitely DO have eclectic taste in music.

I listen to Coldplay AND to U2.
I listen to Duran Duran AND to Spandau Ballet.
I listen to Robbie Williams AND to George Michael.
I listen to Madonna AND to Lady GaGa.

Not only that, but I've got a Best of Johnny Cash and also an Eminem album.

None of you have my range.

Anyone willing to admit they DON'T have eclectic tastes in music?

Mine isn't really. I listen to rock; stadium rock, big-hair rock, glam rock, classic rock, rock n roll. Mainly. I also add small doses of Motown, Classical (more rarely but it's there), modern country and a small dash of whatever is in the charts thanks to the radio.

Ugh.

Google eclectic. I can't be armed to link.

Arsed. I also can't operate my telefloz.

But eclectic just means from different sources:
ec·lec·tic   [ih-klek-tik] Show IPA
adjective
1.
selecting or choosing from various sources.
2.
made up of what is selected from different sources.
3.
not following any one system, as of philosophy, medicine, etc., but selecting and using what are considered the best elements of all systems.
4.
noting or pertaining to works of architecture, decoration, landscaping, etc., produced by a certain person or during a certain period, that derive from a wide range of historic styles, the style in each instance often being chosen for its fancied appropriateness to local tradition, local geography, the purpose to be served, or the cultural background of the client.
noun
5.
Also, ec·lec·ti·cist  [ih-klek-tuh-sist] Show IPA. a person who follows an eclectic method, as in philosophy or architecture.

so surely unless you only listen to classical or pop then everyone has eclectic tastes?

Sorry about that Xmas Blush

Its one of those pieces of music that you realise you've heard without knowing what it is. I stumbled across it when Radio 4 did a programme about it.

Anybody else remember TRASH?

xyfactor · 19/12/2011 01:30

Motown
Oasis
Michael buble

And I don't have an ipod thingy :)

TeWiharaMeriKirihimete · 19/12/2011 08:33

Problem is depends what kind of classical and what kind of pop you like. Metal and classical can be v similar structurally so what seems varied actually isn't.

Whatmeworry · 19/12/2011 08:36

In my case the word is eccentric, not eclectic :o
