It's the 16th of December

who is going to buy icecream?

It keeps playing that stupid yankydoodle tune

Do ice cream vans sell drugs? I can't think of a rational reason why they would be out and about on the 16th of December otherwise

Some schools break up today.... There was one down by the river earlier... in the snow

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 16/12/2011 14:09

When I was at school the icecream man used to sell the schoolkids fags for 10p so I dread to think what they sell now!

Either that or he is demented!

mayorquimby · 16/12/2011 14:10

drugs.
Always drugs.

WorraLiberty · 16/12/2011 14:10

Our ice cream man comes around every single day of the year apart from Xmas day.

He sells hot dogs and sweets as well as ice cream.

leftmymistletoeatthedoor · 16/12/2011 14:10

midori1999 · 16/12/2011 14:39

Where do you live? Grin An icecream van has just come down our street playing Yankee Doodle too... Coincidence?

It comes most days here and my DC always ask for an Icecream. I am mean, I haven't let them so far.

CreamolaFoamless · 16/12/2011 15:05

Edinburgh midori1999

The ice cream van used to be fun and exciting ......and came in the summer

You could get your germoline bubblegum and squishy bears for 20 pence

You could also ask for a 'blackman' , which in hindsight may have been a bit racist but when you were 8 it ment two dollops of icecream between a plain wafer and and chocolate covered nought filled bottom wafar

multipoodles · 16/12/2011 15:09

probably not there in the summer because a lot of them buy pitches on beaches, events and holiday towns leaving just the streets for the winter trade.

SnapesMistressofMerriment · 16/12/2011 15:21

We have one that comes around 10pm once a week, am pretty sure its drugs. Xmas Smile

WibblyBibble · 16/12/2011 16:06

Haha, you're on my street, right? It's been round nearly every day here, including at 8pm when my kids are supposed to be going to bed (some of the kids round here I'm pretty sure don't have a bedtime at all). It was sat out there for 15 minutes when there was snow on the ground, ffs. I'm going to phone the council if they come round after 7 again as apparently they aren't allowed to be playing chimes after 7 (looked up on scot gov website), and I can do without 2yo having another excuse to be running around out of bed. Mr fucking whippy can shove it up his arse.

WibblyBibble · 16/12/2011 16:07

SnapesMistress, I did actually consider whether our one is a secret drugs van (given the area, it's not actually that impausible).

kdiddy · 16/12/2011 16:18

I went to Russia one February and was amazed to see ice cream sellers up and down the street. It was the full-on Russian winter experience too - everyone in long fur coats, fur hats, 2 foot of snow on the ground etc. Apparently they love ice cream in winter Confused

So maybe he's Russian???!!!

CreamolaFoamless · 16/12/2011 16:36

he's Russian kdiddy no he was taking his time

That fact that you know the yankeedoodle tune that the ice cream van plays is a good indication that he/she is doing what he/she should be doing...getting your full attention (you know the tune the vans playing)!!! Tell me who decided that there is a "rule" that ice cream vans should not sell ice cream in the winter months ? (the months from Oct-April being good)

Most sell Hot Dogs,Drinks and Sweets

I like breakfast cereal for a late snack is that against the cereal rules ?

Ice cream vans sell ice cream all year round not just on the streets but are hired for private functions, school fetes, birthday parties, corporate bookings, and TV or media bookings hence why the ice cream van is not always in your street in the summer

As for the comments about ice cream vans selling drugs is madness..the ice cream vans like any other food outlet are ramdomly check by councils and Health and safety inspectors by means of surprise visits as well as "undercover" customers working for the enviromenal health.

Would a ice cream van trader risk loosing his or hers licence and business by selling drugs.. NO

MRWHIPPY · 01/11/2013 23:27

pretty pissed off reading this, after all does it matter when the ice cream man comes round, if your not interested in ice cream then why would it even bother u if they come or not....why would u say they sell drugs ?? why when ice cream can be a good earner if you stick at it, 7 days a week if your ona round... it all balances out ? if your on a pitch u may aswell have a day off if it rains !! u cant just go out when the sun shines and rake it in if your doing the streets, deluded !! !! everybody will be out !!! and if its a dull day the everybody is home....?? yes we all sell sweets/drinks some do hot dogs if they have room but no i dont sell drugs and im pretty sure no ice cream van does ell drugs as the mark up on ice cream is high anyway....... , ice cream stock would be paid for by oct i would of thought by most van owners and why not go out n take a few quid if all is paid for ???? or should we just sit on are arse and chuck away the profit ?? people buy ice cream from shops all year...walls just dont stop producing ice creams !! the world dont stop going round cause the sun goes in !
