Had my sacn today. We had a diffrent nurse than usual and as she was looking through my records she said
'oh you had your first child at 16. she read down ah I'm not surprised'
Dp gave her look of death and asked what the comment was for. She said
'well that he passed while you were so young'
(lost him shortly after birth)
I shrugged it off as me being paranoid.
She then said 'Oh well you kept your other kids alive'
She then turned to DD2 who we had to bring with us as we had no child care and she was bored of colouring and was wandering around checking out the room. The nurse turned to her and said Do mummy and Daddy feed you? or is he step daddy number 10?. She turned to Dp and said' Tell your wifes child to stop prancing in my room'
(All the DC's are ours)
She also kept asking if we had a council house? (Does that matter?)
and if we actually worked for a living. (Dp does I've been a SAHM since DD2 was born)
So am I paranoid ?or Can I go back tomorrow and complain?

um what lebof said

DarklyDexterish · 15/12/2011 22:36

I find it very hard to believe that a HCP would behave in such a manner. I have been pregnant 10 times resulting in 6 live births and never once has a comment been made - and yes I was a young mum too!

If this truly happened OP I doubt that you would feel the need to come on here to ask whether you WBU to complain - you would have just done it there and then

Wittsend13 · 15/12/2011 22:36

Oh whatever OP.

SnapesMistressofMerriment · 15/12/2011 22:36

Shock Hmm

Tryharder · 15/12/2011 22:56

I don't believe this either and i am usually fairly gullible. Sorry.

IneedAChristmasNickname · 15/12/2011 22:58

I really wish I'd paused and breathed before posting! Re-reading, it seems totally unbelievable and I'm Blush that I didnt spot it before ranting!

Sanesometimes1 · 15/12/2011 23:00

Agree with others this just seems too bad to be true !

IReallyHateMyCat · 15/12/2011 23:03

I actually accepted the first half, as I know (from reading mumsnet) that people have a tendency to put their foot in it with mums suffering from bereavement... out of embarrassment or god know what else.

But NO ONE is stupid enough to say any of the last of it out loud.

Wongamum · 15/12/2011 23:13

She sounds like my MIL!

Maybe she was joking?

EricNordmanfirandMistletoe · 15/12/2011 23:26

Did this really happen?

Kayano · 15/12/2011 23:28

I can't believe it either

WorraLiberty · 15/12/2011 23:30

Dear god what is wrong with MN tonight and these totally unbelievable threads?

LordOfTheFlies · 15/12/2011 23:32

I'm a healthcare professional and trust me - no way would this have been said.

I might think unprofessional thoughts but no way would I say them out loud to patients.

If this was true, the OP would have walked out and/or complained then and there. Or her DP would have.

LDNmummy · 15/12/2011 23:33

Unbelievable.

tigerlillyd02 · 16/12/2011 00:02

Why would she keep asking if you had a council house? Surely the first time you'd answer and that would be that?

Moominsarescary · 16/12/2011 00:06

Ok

CarrieInAnotherTWOBabiTWINS · 16/12/2011 00:11

Please complain op. Only way to stopthis type of shit.
