I sort of don't think many people will have seen it. I'm not even sure if it's a short film. I watched it about 15 years ago.

It was about some people (a family I think) whose car broke down on a journey whilst they were going round an island. It was a bit odd, they panicked and, even thought they could see the other traffic passing them by, they believed they were now stranded on this island. And they set up home on it.

In the middle of the road.

That's it. And tbf it's more than my husband normally gets, but even he's never heard of this one.

Can anyone help!!!!

Thanks

It's going round and round and round my head.

ooh, now i am annoyed because I can't remember the name of the book, but when I googled all I came up with was JG Ballards Concrete island. I know it's not that, because this story was definitely about a family. I wonder if it is the same story as your film?

GoodWitchHunting · 13/12/2011 23:05

Maybe you just convinced yourself you could see this film and everyone else around you couldn't really see it and the whole thing is a metaphor for your mental health or simply drug use/wine consumption all those years ago Grin

GoodWitchHunting · 13/12/2011 23:16

ok so I've googled and come up with nothing - but I need to sleep now and it's going to bug me!

Tiredmumno1 · 13/12/2011 23:52

Could it be any one of the swiss family robinson films?

xyfactor · 14/12/2011 00:02

Wrong turn?

Vicbic · 14/12/2011 00:02

JG Ballard was what sprung to my mind as well...

cubbie · 14/12/2011 00:04

I once saw an Elvis film where an assorted crew of people were driving along, their car broke down and they ended up setting up home at the side of the road, there might have been a beach as well. Of course, there was singing and hip-gyrating.

I normally love Elvis film but found this annoying so switched off after a while. Unhelpful post, I'm sure, but it sounds similar to your film.

EauDeLaPoisson · 14/12/2011 00:06

It was called the Friday Evening tripping on too much LSD episode...

redlac · 14/12/2011 00:22

I agree with xyfactor that it's wrong turn with Eliza Dushku
www.imdb.com/title/tt0295700/

TroublesomeEx · 14/12/2011 14:50

No it was long before than Wrong Turn which was 2003. I saw it in around 1995, but it was old then. It had a real 80s feel to it.

It wasn't a horror or anything, just a little offbeat (as I recall).

I'd not heard of that JG Ballard but just looked and the premise is similar. I just remembered it as being a family. I think it was a family day out or something. But I will investigate JG Ballard further. Thanks for your help!

And to all the suggestions it might have been drug induced - how very dare you!!! Wink

I also had a similar one about a film about a woman who had her arms cut off and there was some blood in a swimming pool. But I eventually traced that one!!

was it a Roald Dahl Tales of the Unexpected?

TroublesomeEx · 15/12/2011 10:42

Don't think so, but I've got the Tales of the Unexpected book upstairs I'll have a look.
