to be a tad miffed that the whole world knows my sexual business?

It is my mother's fault.

Anyhoo, after passing some important exams this year I finally tied the knot and feel the logical next step is to start a family, I am after all 29 now and my clock is ticking.

My mother however likes to know all the details and I have to tell her every day whether I am ovulating and if Bart is standing up to the job. We have a close relationship but I have discovered she has told everyone in their christmas cards all my business.

She only sends cards to close friends and relatives so it doesn't really matter and it's not like the whole world knows my business and when I am having a shag but that's what it feels like.

AIBU or is it normal to share this amount of information with friends in cards?

WhistletoeAndMine · 13/12/2011 12:52

YABU how can she "make" you tell her? Does she give you chinese burns until you yell out that yes Bart gave it to you good and proper last night.

Tell her to mind her own business.

RJRabbit · 13/12/2011 12:53

Well, we didn't ALL know, but we do now Wink

DoesNotGiveAFig · 13/12/2011 12:53

Lol you don't HAVE to tell her anything!

KittyFane · 13/12/2011 12:55

Stop telling her!

WibblyBibble · 13/12/2011 12:55

Yeah, I bet her friends are really going to love hearing all about your ovulation and whether you're shagging in their christmas cards. WTF?

MistressFrankly · 13/12/2011 12:59

Grin @ Whistletoe

Yeah i don't care how close you are with dear old mum you really dont HAVE to share. And now you know your sharing has been past on then now is really time to put a stop to it.

Or tell her in exaggerated and extremely graphic detail to see how much she will write in a crimbo card Smile

MistressFrankly · 13/12/2011 13:00

passed not past Blush

BaronessOrczy · 13/12/2011 13:00

I think you should stop her sending round robin Christmas card updates.

Or stop talking to her.

Give my festive regards to Bert Xmas Grin

kidsinamerica · 13/12/2011 13:02

Don't tell her FFS.

You are a grown adult yes?

She knows what you CHOSE to tell her!

AMumInScotland · 13/12/2011 13:02

Oh dear, Kayla, I suspect your mum is going to be telling that lovely Bill and Sheila in Scotland all about your plans now Grin

CatPussRoastingByAnOpenFire · 13/12/2011 13:04

Grin Id be seriously concerned! The old bat is probably going to tell everyone she has ever met in glorious detail!!

debka · 13/12/2011 13:04

My dad said in his Round Robin that my sis as pg after a Long Time of Trying. Not sure whether to tell her or not...

Bunbaker · 13/12/2011 13:05

"I have to tell her every day whether I am ovulating and if Bart is standing up to the job"

Unbelievable!!!!
Don't tell her, end of.

IneedAChristmasNickname · 13/12/2011 13:05

Tell her Bart has problems 'standing up to the job' Xmas Grin

JumpOnIt · 13/12/2011 13:05

Oh my goodness. How did you and your Mum ever get into talking about that in the first place?!

I would be a bit more than miffed. :)

BarfTheHeraldAngelsHeave · 13/12/2011 13:08

Oh dear. I think I have actually just pissed myself laughing.

Don't tell her.

"Oh Mum. Bart just wan't ......standing enough tonight."

JaneBirkin · 13/12/2011 13:08

Sorry but 'Bart'

Sorry

sorry

JaneBirkin · 13/12/2011 13:09

yanbu of course

but stop telling her and then she will run out of info to 'share'

That might solve your problem, but sadly this christmas you will be the topic of conversation among your mother's friends. It is far too late.

blackeyedsanta · 13/12/2011 13:11

you better hope some random person doesn't get the info and post it on the internet or something!

LEttletownofBOFlehem · 13/12/2011 13:12

Gee Kayla, 29? you'd better get a wriggle on!

NeedlesCuties · 13/12/2011 13:12

YABU.... so it your mum.

I'm sure your DH is delighted that his wife tells his MIL all those things Hmm

Iggly · 13/12/2011 13:13

Has she included your charts for added information? Plus a breakdown of CM and BBT by month?

SwearyVirginMary · 13/12/2011 13:15

Does Bart always stand up to do the job? What I want to know is this - Are you standing on your head after shagging? I mean if its gone in with an uphill struggle, the least you can do is give Bart's little swimmers a fighting chance.

As for the round robin's.....I never read them.

HTH.

QuintessentiallyFestive · 13/12/2011 13:15

Yabu. If she has the lack of tact to a ask and you have the lack of nous to tell her, then it puzzles me that you are surprised that she has brought the matter up in Christmas cards, it should be all natural to you!
