My little pony...

seems to have got taller and thinner and sluttier since the early 90s. Im sure they were all round and fat and cute when I had them????

It was the smell I loved the most. The new ones just don't smell the same as the 80s ones

I had a little orange cat with a hole in its bum. My mate had a little brown dog and the Show Stable - she was a spoilt only child

I am getting a my little pony incorporated into my tattoo sleeve. Since i have been a wee girl whenever anyone asked what i wanted for my birthday, from the shop, for dinner, to be when i was grown up etc i always said a pony. It stuck and to this day some description of pony appears on most shopping lists created in my house.

My ex was mortified when his boss asked if he wanted anything from the shop and he automatically replied " a flying pink pony with a unicorn horn" He was very and his boss has NEVER let him forget it

DD is obsessed with these but luckily agrees with me that the new ones are weird. So this Christmas I have been hunting G1 and G3 (I think that's it, the new ones in the old style) toys and paying stupid prices on Ebay.

It's a quest. One lovely MNetter sent me a beanbag cover in the old fabric and I hunt the rest down in charity shops. Never find a stable though .

I have some of the first generation ones from the 80s. Also had the magic castle which was fab. Got dd some new ponies about six years ago and even they were thinner and taller than mine. So they're even worse now? Maybe I can sell my old ones for loads of money on eBay!

They are skinnier but come in two sizes. Small skinny and Big skinny.
Honestly, if they were ponies, I'd shoot them. It'd be a kindness.

Applejack and lickety split were my faves (I still have them all obviously [original 80's models].. probably about 15 ponies including babies). They're at the back of my wardrobe! I think their "show stable" is still in my parents' loft!

So true! DD got "Princess Celestia" for her birthday this morning..

It is extremely slutty, super skinny and pink and comes out with weird things

I have spent ages collecting the originals off of e-bay and restoring them to their original glory for dd, she has quite an impressive collection now, you can get most of them for about 99p.

There are loads of websites to show you how to restore them and make them look just like new should you be as sad as me .

The new ones are shit.

I had loads of the 80s ponies and a big playmat for them with jumps to go over and stuff, really wish I had kept them now for my DD instead of giving them to the jumble sale :(. I had the one called Morning Glory, it was one of the flying ones but the wings came off. I think the names were invented in America so they wouldn't necessarily know that Morning Glory and Spunky are a bit dodgy over here.

Even though DD has alot of the newer ponies, because I got the old cartoons on dvd for myself for her , she calls them all by the old names, so I hear her talking about North Star and Wind Whistler etc. I love it

For HeidiKat should warn you is it mildly depressing to do as I did and give dd 8 immaculate ponies and babies for a present then to look in what is now her 'pony drawer' to see a tangle of manes and tails, once so smooth and shiney....but anyhoo,

Will never forget dp opening the airing cupboard to get a towel and coming face to face with eight drying ponies, his expression was a picture
