To envy my DSister who is still not awake at 9.50 on Saturday morning?

I have been up since 6.30am with my two DCs.
My younger sis, who has no children, is still fast asleep.

In the interests of fairness, should I go upstairs and wake her up? Grin

No, you train your children to get up early and go jump on Aunty whilst you have a nice lie in.

GrownUpBelievesInSanta · 10/12/2011 10:00

I do get jealous of my DP, especially since if I go to be later on for a nap it's considered laziness, but we both went to bed at three in the morning, and I was up with my DD having a nightmare at four, then up for good at seven when she got up for the day.

My getting up early every day at seven is apparently fair because he gets up every morning at six to go and beast himself at work whilst I am only responsible for lighter duties at home like caring for the children, cleaning and cooking. He needs the two half day lie ins at the weekend.

Think that I may perhaps be feeling violent jealousy at this moment. Xmas Envy

MrsPepperpotty · 10/12/2011 10:00

Ah weekend lie-ins... those were the days...

Scaredycat3000 · 10/12/2011 10:04

My DS, 2 & half, lay in until 8:30 this morning, and he slept all night, wow. DS2 6 weeks did wake me up, but wow it felt like a nights sleep!
YANBU to be jealous of your DSis, but leave her be, her time will probably come.

ronx · 10/12/2011 11:10

She's up now. I freely admitted that I was Envy Envy at my lack of lie-ins! We had a good laugh about it as I used to do exactly the same thing before DCs.

It gets better, ds is 10 now and didn't come in to us until 8.45 - utter bliss!! I remember the 5.30am early morning wake ups though only too well!!

Bonkerz · 10/12/2011 11:14

In that situation this morning. Dh agreed I could stay in bed today. I did 5am feed and Ds woke at 6:30. Dh slept. I got up as couldn't wake him. He finally got up at 10 when he heard the DCs getting their clothes. Am very annoyed and very tired. I think he also sees my role as less important as his..... He has had 3 lie ins this week as works 11-8 so stays in bed till 10!

mumof4sons · 10/12/2011 11:15

Like Valium said - it does get better. My boys are still asleep now (11.13), but I guess that comes with teenagers.

Scaredycat is also right - her day will come.

cocoachanneloffestivecheer · 10/12/2011 11:16

In our house the rule is when Aunty visits, she gets to spend quality time with her DN and DH & I get a lie in Smile

mankyscotslass · 10/12/2011 11:26

It does get better - we got a lie in Hmm till 8 this morning.

Eldest DS 9 made toast and sorted cereal out for the other two, and they came gown and watched the programmes that they had on Sky+.

The days of being in bed til lunchtime on a weekend are like a distant dream.

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 10/12/2011 11:32

I didn't get up until until 10.45 Blush

My DC are older though (8, 11 and 13) and DH gets up ridiculously early to play WoW with his best friend so I'm not missed Grin

I work every other weekend so I don't get away with it that often.

ronx · 10/12/2011 12:17

My DSis is a dream houseguest in many ways: doesn't get under your feet, eats most things and will drag her old sister to the pub while DH stays at home. Grin

ChaoticAngel · 10/12/2011 12:45

I only got up at 10.30 Xmas Grin

ReindeerBollocks · 10/12/2011 12:55

I got up at 11, children are staying out, and it's been my first lie-in in months.

It was bliss.

I will be back to waking up at 6:30 tomorrow though.

Ifancyashandy · 10/12/2011 13:00

No kids here but I was up awake at 7.00 if that makes you feel any better.

BackPackBackPack · 10/12/2011 13:37

I got up 30 mins ago (1pm) but I am not well and was up most of the night vomiting so DP let me sleep and woke me up at 1 with a cup of tea and bacon sandwich don't know why he brought bacon sandwich up as the thought of eating turned my stomach

JsOtherHalf · 10/12/2011 13:47

I woke at 7 when i heard ds going to the toilet, he is almost 5. He then went to his room for an hour, i then got up at 8.i dozed for that hour:-)

trixymalixy · 10/12/2011 13:49

I got up at 11. We each get a lie in at the weekend.

Meglet · 10/12/2011 13:52

yanbu.

When we go on holiday I send the DC's in at 8am to wake up their Auntie Grin.

It's even better at mums house as my stepdad gets up at 6am, so early waking dc's don't phase them at all.

tralalala · 10/12/2011 13:53

I had my weekly lie in til 8!

lljkk · 10/12/2011 14:44

yanbu. I'd be sticking pins in her voodoo doll, probably maybe.
3yo was hacking/coughing for 2 hours 3-5am this morning. I had to get out of bed at 7:30 am for other reasons.

DH won't trade lie-ins, doesn't understand what they are, they never happened in his family, because routine reigned supreme 24/7. Having a lie-in for them would be like walking around outside in the street in your PJs (sigh). Just.Not.Done.

diddl · 10/12/2011 15:07

One good thing about teenagers-they certainly know how to sleep in at the weekendGrin

JustGiveMeTheWine · 10/12/2011 16:25

YANBU to envy someone who can sleep in!
I'm one of these people who can never have a lie in, every bloody morning im up between 6 - 6.30, even on my days off!
I've been up since 5.50am today (with a hangover) but thats only because DP farted on me while he was asleep and stank the room out!
I will be repaying the favour tomorrow morning!!!!
