now part of talktalk

have logged onto my account and asked them to cancel it as we move next week. this is not acceptable they need me to phone in as they need to verify i am the account holder...urm hello how did i manage to log into online account to post the message which requires a username and password...

phoned was on hold for an age, on a 10p a minute number only to finally get through and be cut off...

have tried to get through 3 more times and sit on hold continually while being told they are experiencing high call volumes.

have cancelled my direct debit but still need to make sure the account is cancelled....am going to go mad if i have to sit on hold listening to the music for much longer.

I was with Pipex and the service was dreadful - exactly the same experience as you with the 10p a minute number (which I think was in the Phillippines). The customer services people couldn't understand English and were reading from a script.
They will require one months notice and will continue to bill you. In my case, I gave them one months notice and they STILL didn't cancel the account - then said I owed them money as I'd cancelled the direct debit.
This doesn't really answer your question, but the quickest way I found was to ring their complaints number and you should get to speak to someone farly quickly.

Pipex was the absolute worst company I have ever dealt with.

Echo boffy Pipex are dreadful.

Sorry, I don't remember how we shook them off. DH dealt with it but I remember they carried on trying it on by sending threatening letters after he'd definitely managed to end the contract. Possibly they're still sending us bills,

Well I have resorted to emailing an old colleague of mine who works for Talktalk (who own Pipex) and he is going to try and sort this out for me.

THe worst customer service I have encountered in a long time and that is saying something.

When I had issues with BT I googled the name and address of its Chief Executive and sent a letter of complaint directly to him. That worked a treat.

I need to cancel an Orange contract and no doubt will be doing the same thing.

If it's a letter cancelling something or complaining, it's worth keeping a copy and sending your letter by Recorded Delivery.

I also keep my correspondence fairly light-hearted. Chief Executives seem to like the banter. I don't suppose they get much at work. Smile
