I mean, come on, it is less then 3 weeks away and we have still not been told who can have holiday!

We don't work bank holidays so it is not affecting Christmas Day, Boxing Day etc but still, people need to know so they can make plans etc.

Am I alone in thinking this is a bit out of order - it is not like the bosses didn't know Christmas was coming Hmm

Have you asked them why they haven't sorted it?

Are they delaying it because they are trying to put off the inevitable moaning about who's working when? Grin

It's not fair of them. People need to know so that they can plan. Ask them, tell them you need to know asap so that you can make arrangements.

How far ahead are your rotas done normally?

We don't have rotas - I work in an office so people generally book holiday whenever they want to. However at Christmas, we have to make sure the office is covered and obviously everyone wants the days off so it isn't as simple as normal holidays. We have to wait for senior management to decide how many people they want in on each day and then see who wants to work them.

We keep asking the senior management and I even used the excuse that I needed to know to make childcare arrangements in an attempt to speed things up (DH is off anyway so that was a lie Grin) to no avail. Just keep being told that the final decisions have nearly been made and we will get told shortly - so frustrating!!

Even more annoying is that the senior management team have sorted theirs out - it is just us underlings that are clearly not important enough for them to rush it Angry

Do you think that they are being cowardly custards and planning on waiting until the very last minute so that people don't have time to start complaining and asking them to change stuff?

It really is most unfair of them.

Methinks Hecate is spot on.

Same is happening in our place too. I've approved my teams leave, but it (technically) hasn't been cleared on up the line - as far as I'm concerned, thats tough - we all need to know whether leave is ok or not so we can make plans, so if management can't be bothered to sort it out by this stage, they'll just have to live with what I've decided Xmas Shock Grin

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 07/12/2011 21:30

It's the same at our place. I really need to know too, so I can sort childcare. It's ridiculous.

ceebeegeebies · 07/12/2011 21:40

Glad it isn't just me then - if it was up to my direct line manager, it would probably all have been sorted but as one of the senior managers decided she would organise it, I suspect it just keeps getting put to the bottom of the pile of stuff to do.

Don't think it is a case of them being cowardly as we have heard on the grapevine that only 1 of us will have to be in on each day which is better than last year when they decided it needed to be 2.
