DH left for work 3 hours ago & I had no idea DD would be off sick today! She's not been sick or got a temperature but has had a growing tummy ache for a couple of days & is really tired. Felt really guilty telling work I wouldn't be in today, but AIBU to actually secretly enjoy the peace & quiet & mother daughter time?

Nope. I can hear the sofa calling you both! Hope the tummy-ache gets better soon so you can both enjoy the day.

pugsandseals · 06/12/2011 08:52

You all make it sound so easy! I think a big part of my guilt is that DD is almost old enough to look after herself at home (age9) and I wonder if others understand. Also DH often works at home so I am not normally the one to take time off if she's ill Blush

I hereby order you to stop feeling guilty & snuggle up with your DD

DVD therapy we call it!!

Hope she feels better soon.

WhoopsyLa · 06/12/2011 08:58

9 isn't old enough to look after herself! Nor when she's ill...nor is ten! You are not doing anything wrong.

My almost 11 year old still demands a cuddle when she's ill, so does her almost 14 year old sister.
Cuddle up on the sofa and enjoy.

Bossybritches22 · 06/12/2011 09:22

Carry on.....Xmas Grin

Actually I had a day like that a few weeks ago & my DD is 14!!!

Doesn't matter what age they are a day with Mum when you're feeling ill is nice.

My DD had a day off on Friday with something very similar. We spent the day on the sofa, snuggled under 'blankie' and watcing DVDs. We painted our nails and told each other how much we loved each other.

She possibly could have gone in but I felt no guilt in spending a lovely sick day with my babygirl!

agedknees · 06/12/2011 11:57

My dd is 22 and still wants/needs her mum when shes feeling ill. Relax and enjoy the precious mum/daughter time. They grow up so quickly.

WowOoo · 06/12/2011 11:58

I am really really really enjoying time off work. They've been particularly kind and generous and told me to have as much time as i need and to enjoy it too. Shock
Must be the Christmas spirit kicking in. ..Or I'm about to be made redundant or something.

Ds2 is especially adorable with his sad little face. I almost want him to stay poorly for a bit longer.

randommoment · 06/12/2011 12:11

You lot are beginning to make me wish the DDs would catch a bug so I can take the day off!

Joby1970 · 06/12/2011 13:32

I'm 41 & still want my mum to tell check my forehead when I'm ill! Xmas Blush

manicinsomniac · 06/12/2011 13:47

tummy ache and tired - I'm such a bitch, my daughters would be in school for that! Not because they'd want to but because I want to! Grin (we all go to the same school)

But no, YANBU - in the nicest possible way I LOVE it when my kids are too ill to go in.
