to think 4 hours is too long to spend putting up Xmas decorations at work?

My colleague spent 4 hours putting up the decorations round her desk yesterday (not the whole office, just round her desk). It looks amazing (she used a ruler to check that they were the correct distance appart) but, given that we're a small company one step away from insolvency, doesn't this rank as taking the piss (we were told that we had to do it in our own time, but she said 'oh, I'll just do mine then'). She is also married to one of the management team, which might just be something to do with it.

If she was using company time when she shouldn't have been. YANBU

I was going to say that you are being massively unreasonable, and a few hours to decorate the office once a year is fine. However, 4 hours to decorate a desk? Your colleague is definitely being unreasonable.

She sounds nutty!

Agree - it's your colleague that's unreasonable. And also incredibly inefficient....I did decorations for my whole team....took about half an hour tops (and looked very nice might I add!). Xmas Grin

If one of my colleagues had spent four hours putting decs round her desk whilst I sat grafting I'd be furious but I'd have also said something to her.
