I feel SICK reading this

not even going to click on that link - yanbu.

GypsyMoth · 05/12/2011 22:13

I don't think they are being given 'fame'

BlissfulMistletoe · 05/12/2011 22:19

tbh i can not see how there relationship broke down over a house.

Sirzy · 05/12/2011 22:20

I do wonder what definition some of these papers use for news because that certainly isn't newsworthy!

Floggingmolly · 05/12/2011 22:40

How the hell was it the same sofa Confused. Did they rent the housed lock, stock and barrel? Surely not.

BlissfulMistletoe · 05/12/2011 22:51

floggingmolly....i bet it was a fully furnished rental agreement.

i am assuming they where homeless as they was both living with relatives, so perhaps didn't have the basics a home needs

WinterWonderlandIsComing · 05/12/2011 22:52

I read it and looking at the timescales with regard to the fact that the neighbours knew what had happened before the media did and a long time before the names of the perpetrators were released, I can understand his fear.

There is no way in hell that house should have been let to a family with young children including a newborn baby without them being made fully aware of the facts.

Could have done without knowing the additional details though. That was unnecessary and distasteful.

neilyourbedroomsonfire · 05/12/2011 22:54

YANBU.
That house of horror should be demolished.
No one would want to live there knowing what happened in it.

troisgarcons · 05/12/2011 22:54

some people are superstitious.

Personally I wouldnt feel comfortable living in a house like that.

I can see how the mind might play tricks given the history of the hosue

PelvicFloorOfHighTensileTinsel · 05/12/2011 23:02

I'm not superstitious but would still find it grim living in a house where something like that had happened. The couple had to move due to a threat the house would be firebombed by vigilantes so I can kind of see why they'd want a wider audience to be aware it was nothing to do with them, still a bit of a non-news story though.

festi · 05/12/2011 23:09

I dont think it is giving them fame, I think it has highlighted how awfully the housing was handled. It is shocking the house was rented to a family. the house should have been pulled down and never expected to be inhabited every again after such appauling things happened there.

Kayano · 05/12/2011 23:12

Ffs knock down a perfectly good house when we are facing a national housing crisis?

Eh nar

That's just a waste

reelingintheyears · 05/12/2011 23:14

Lots of us live in old houses and don't know what the history of the property is.

What if this was 50/100 years ago, would it make a difference if you need a house?

Something is always going to be built on that site.

Horrible, yes, but would you rather be homeless?

WinterWonderlandIsComing · 05/12/2011 23:19

The previous owner of our house committed suicide here and it's only twenty years old.

Fred West's house was demolished IIRC and DH thinks that Ian Huntley's was too.

The point of the story was more to do with vigilantism and the fact that people had been threatening to fire-bomb it.

LulaBear · 05/12/2011 23:20

YANBU. I couldn't live there but can't see myself phoning the papers over it Hmm

BlissfulMistletoe · 05/12/2011 23:22

what about the house next door, but no way would i live in a house with that history.

i don't know the history of this house, but i could still live here is someone died naturally...but to be brutally murdered.....i just could not live in a house of horrors

reelingintheyears · 05/12/2011 23:31

I just don't buy the 'house of horrors' stuff.

Bloody battles were fought on fields where we now happily walk our Children and our dogs.

Ancient cemeteries are underneath our suburbs.

Plague victims bones are being discovered in London.

Someone may have died where i'm sitting right now.

It's just a point in space.

I am not trying to be flippant but realistic.

Moominsarescary · 05/12/2011 23:31

15 mins of fame? Sounds like they had a bloody awful time

festi · 05/12/2011 23:31

well its just any house is it, christ there are thousands of houses laying empty up and down this country. I dont think pulling one down out of respect of what fucking horrible brutality happened to a baby would make much difference to our housing problems.

festi · 05/12/2011 23:33

not only the respect thing buts it is common sence anyone living there after that would have some terrible stuff to deal with from vigilanties and they were not even told.

reelingintheyears · 05/12/2011 23:33

However,i do think that Fred West's house got pulled down.

festi · 05/12/2011 23:35

his house did get pulled down.

Moominsarescary · 05/12/2011 23:36

I couldn't live there, I'd look at my baby and think about what that poor little boy suffered in that house. For our child protection part of our nursing training we had to look at the case in detail, it still bloody haunts me how much that baby was failed by everyone who came into contact with him

Get0rf · 05/12/2011 23:38

Fred Wests' house was pulled down. It is about a 5 minute walk from where I live.

It is a peaceful looking garden now.

I think though that is a bit different - there were many girls who were killed in the basement, and buried beneath the house. It was a graveyard.

This is not the same - there is no need to pull down a house because horrible and terrible things happened there. Who knows what grim things have happened in the houses we live in, especially if they are hundreds of years old.

festi · 05/12/2011 23:39

I have just undergone IPl aswell moon and im writing an essay based around the failings and have just read that and and few other seriouse case reviews, horrible.
