neighbours and parking - am annoyed I'm annoyed

Both sides park right up to the limit on our side so we have a tunnel of car to get out out having to be very careful on both sides not to hit either car, whereas they have on their other side gallons of room to swing in and out of their driveways. One does not even have a driveway next to them on the other side. And when I say driveway I mean space to put on one car on the front not a mansion 5 mile long driveway.

I am annoyed it bugs me but like tonight is frankly a fucking arseache having to get into the drive, in the sleet, hungry tired kids in the dark practically doing a 3 point turn to get in with traffic waiting.

Why are they so so thick and obsessed with parking so close? What can I say politely to ask them to move back just a metre or so each?

Little thinhs like this make people nuts!!

You can but try, it doesn't mean they will but maybe something along the lines of you being worried that, with the bad weather and dark nights coming early, you may end up damaging their car might make them think and give you a little more room.

We have a neighbour who parks up the arse of our driveway (past where the curb starts to drop). This means we have to to several manoeuvres to get into the drive. I started parking on the street in front of our drive, mainly as it was getting dangerous. If she is too close I park up her backside. If someone is close to the other side of her it is tricky for her to get out.

She parks more considerately now. DH just moves the car into the drive when he gets home.

Can you get your dropped kerb extended (or a white no parking line put in front of it which is a bit wider?). My sister got hers painted for free by the council I think and it's about 3/4 a metre wider than the actual drive either side

mercibucket · 05/12/2011 19:05

Just pop round and ask - or bash their wing mirror off, as dh did (accident) - they park a lot further away now!

Shutupanddrive · 05/12/2011 19:33

Can you just ask them? And say you almost hit their car as it was so close

Kayano · 05/12/2011 19:42

Ask them?

Keep opening your car doors into theirs, they'll soon get the message!!!
