Asked to leave because our dog was offending the Muslim children?

We went to watch ds2 play football at a local sports centre yesterday. He was playing on the astroturf which was next to a field. We stood on the field to watch with the dog on a lead. The caretaker came over about 2 minutes later and asked us to leave, not because dogs aren't allowed, but because apparently our black dog was offending the Muslim children in the arts centre next door. We saw some parents dropping children off as we arrived but other than that we were nowhere near any Muslim children. Apparently complaints had been made because we had the dog on the site, we refused to leave at first but the caretaker got the site manager. I am planning on making a complaint but before I send it am I right in thinking this is bonkers? I understand that dogs are unclean but he was on a lead? Seems like a very strange policy, apparently the dog was "worse" because he is black?

I'm having problems believing this happened... I'm sorry for doubting you it just seems so unlikely. Especially since you moved. I definitely wouldn't have left watching my DS play football because the presence of my pet offended someone.

I would have thought there we far more devilish animals in the world. Goats for instance. I would ban them.

Midges. Mice. Rats. Cockroaches. Flies (they walk in poo then spit on your food and stamp on it). Camels smell like they have just come from hell, as do skunks (and some people).

I think the fact that people don't want dogs shitting on sports fields is more to the point.
I think the caretaker has got tired of having the 'i know you say it won't shit but somehow shit ends up on the field and it is never anyones dog'

I think that the caretaker was talking rubbish, but it could have been because, as others said, he is sick of dogs shitting on the field.
Or he could have been the sort of over-eager, officious little bastard who loves banning stuff that someone somewhere might be offended by.
Or he could be the other sort of officious little bastard who likes perpetrating Political Correctness Gorn Maaaaaad mythology by reinterpreting a council new rule about No Dogs as 'Well, it's all because of them Muzlimmers, innit! Mustn't offend them.'

I think they just wanted you to take your dog home and just used that as an exuse

Astros turf is not a park that's were dogs go park or garden

Even some beeches don allow dogs sorry think the Muslim agngle is a bit mmm but do think it was right you removed your dog

People often uses minorities as scapegoats when they can't be arsed

You get to avoid the situation and put the blame on someone else so people can be out raged on online forums at muslims who in my view most likely didn't complain

Well, anchovies, you could buy a burka for your dog to disguise it. Seemed more appropriate to do this to a bitch. But he's a eunuch which complicates things........................

GetOrf, I've got a Jack Russell sitting on my lap right now (alongside DD). She's the cutest, most loving, pathetic sap of a dog. I never thought I'd meet a JRT I'd like, but she's won me over. She is the complete opposite of every other JR I've ever met.

(but I'll still breathe a sigh of relief when she goes home on Tue ... Why in the hell is she still moulting in December?)

Mine ( a Border Collie) once at a tube of glitter. Plastic casing and everything. His shit sparkled for weeks
