Asked to leave because our dog was offending the Muslim children?

We went to watch ds2 play football at a local sports centre yesterday. He was playing on the astroturf which was next to a field. We stood on the field to watch with the dog on a lead. The caretaker came over about 2 minutes later and asked us to leave, not because dogs aren't allowed, but because apparently our black dog was offending the Muslim children in the arts centre next door. We saw some parents dropping children off as we arrived but other than that we were nowhere near any Muslim children. Apparently complaints had been made because we had the dog on the site, we refused to leave at first but the caretaker got the site manager. I am planning on making a complaint but before I send it am I right in thinking this is bonkers? I understand that dogs are unclean but he was on a lead? Seems like a very strange policy, apparently the dog was "worse" because he is black?

When I am in charge I shall ban (just for starters):

Do you know why they are regarded as unclean?

The owners say things like - it won't hurt you... well of course it may not but believe it or not I do not want a load of saliva from a dog licked down my leg or hairs. Why shoudl I be subjected to that? I don't go around parks and lick the legs of strangers or leave remains of mess that can cause blindness and yet dog owners seem to think they can subject me to that.

My black dog is unclean. In fact he's bloody filthy and will be going in the bath. DD just took him for a walk in the fields and he found a ditch . I think anyone would be quite justified in objecting to him anywhere near them at present.

However I a bit at the caretaker. Either he's a twat or he's misinformed.

Mine is unclean because he discovered that even if the mud is frozen you can still find some under the very shiny puddles. If you walk on them they break and there is lots of squealchy, if a little bit cold, mud under them.

Hi, Muslim lady here. There is a belief that black dogs might be Jins and Muslim people are weary of them. I was taught that I cannot own a dog unless it is a guard dog and stays outside and that if a dog (colour irrelevant, as far as I know it is an hygiene thing) touches me/ my clothes I will have to get changed in order for my next prayer to be valid. Now I go in plenty of places where there are dogs I either manage to stay away from them if I have no way of getting changed or I just change clothes when I get back home before performing my next prayer. I have never myself heard of Muslims asking for dogs to be banned from anywhere. I assume that most Muslim if they are really bothered would actually leave themselves rather than ask for the dog to be taken away. It is the first time I hear of an extreme case of baning black dogs from a place just because a Muslim person might come by. To verrifie IMHO.

I'd like the swamping immigrant hordes to get rid of:

• people who barge through doors you're holding open for them, without saying thanks

• union jack cushions

Neither does my dog. I don't think he's ever licked anyone who didn't want him to (some people will offer a hand and want to be licked - I think that's a bit odd myself, but if they're grownups I'll take the risk they won't infect my dog with anything ). I don't leave his mess, and he's regularly wormed so it wouldn't cause blindness anyway. Please don't confuse irresponsible dog owners with typical MN dog owners!
