I've sat down and watched this for the very first time, and rather loved it. I've tried to wiki the base storyline, and cannot find much.

A brief catchup from another fan, please? Grin

It's fucking brilliant. Thats all you need to know :o if you can find the previous two series (8 episodes in all) on DVD get them.

Gist is it's based on fact, Garrow WAS real and he changed the way law is practiced I believe. Wiki has a lot on the actual Garrow and Southouse.

Another for thinking it's fab.
Have watched every episode since it started (big Andrew Buccan fan) but it's been too convoluted for a short synopsis. You'll have to get the box sets! :)

I've only watched on and off from series 2, so someone will doubtless correct me, but the love story line (which is the one with the longest arc) seems to have begun in series one when Lady Sarah and Garrow fell in love, but she was married to Lord Dastardly - at the beginning of the second series, she had a kid with LD and it was all longing looks in London parks.

Then LD became convinced LS's son was in fact Garrow's and not his and threw LS out - but to spite her, kept custody of her son. LS fled to Garrow, which did nothing to convince LD otherwise . . .

Third series, and there's been some legal shennanigans I didn't follow to try and get LS back her son. Garrow was offered the chance to do something dodgy in return for the baby being returned, but at the last minute ducked out, and so LS kidnapped him. And that brings us roughly up to date.

This is all very loosely based on true life too - except LS was actually LD's mistress, not wife, and LD wasn't dastardly at all - in fact, he paid Sarah and Garrow (who later married) a generous sum to bring up his son.

You'll probably have a more accurate version by the time I've typed this!

Although now I come to think of it, that baby doesn't seem more than about four or five months old, so old Garrow didn't half do well packing so much law reform into such a short amount of time.

Judge John Deed - Bigger wigs, less sex.

Thank you all. Have quickly fallen in absolute love with this series, plus the actor playing Garrow is very nice Grin

I think I'll be adding the boxsets to my list for Santa Grin
