Just chips, mind, cos we are having a proper healthy dinner this evening.

They are 8 and nearly 11 and I have never done it before

So its ok, isn't it?

And wibu to have just chippy chips too? even though I could lose a few stone pounds?

i think it's fine, once in a while.

picnicbasketcase · 03/12/2011 13:22

For goodness sake yes. Out of all takeaway food, aren't chippy chips supposed to be the least bad option? Plus delicious Grin

jollyoldstnickschick · 03/12/2011 13:23

Oh its a lovely treat on a saturday afty - buy some some fresh bread too and have chip butties .

picnicbasketcase · 03/12/2011 13:23

That's 'Yes you should have chips', not 'yes it's unreasonable'. Obviously.

candytuft63 · 03/12/2011 13:26

Chippychips are a real treat. Enjoy !

coraltoes · 03/12/2011 13:26

So unreasonable. Think of all of us reading this who DIDN'T have chips for lunch and now wish we had.

MindtheGappp · 03/12/2011 13:27

If it's a one-off, then fine.

Sparklingbrook · 03/12/2011 13:28

Chips for Saturday lunch is a real treat here. Straight from the footy pitch to the chip shop. Yum!

Chippy chips once every now and then shouldn't do much harm. They're better than a lot of junk food and sweets are, since at least you know what's in them. You could always give them fruit or something else healthy afterwards, to assuage your conscience.

DedalusDigglesPocketWatch · 03/12/2011 13:30

We did! I am feeling rough, DH is very jetlagged after a business trip and there is hardly any food in the house.

Sparklingbrook · 03/12/2011 13:31

Does mushy peas count towards 5 a day? Grin

FlangelinaBallerina · 03/12/2011 13:40

Don't see why not! Ketchup might be pushing it though.

ICanTuckMyBoobsInMyPockets · 03/12/2011 13:42

I want chips now!
Sparkling mushy peas are really good for you. Slimming World veterans will know they're a super speed food! (I think this means they make you poo?)

Sparklingbrook · 03/12/2011 13:45

That's good, I love mushy peas. Grin

storminabuttercup · 03/12/2011 13:45

It's fine, they are just potatoes! (admittedly deep fried) no added salt or sugar!

And I think they are a good source of vitamin d? Or a? Or one of the vitamins?*

*disclaimer, this could be complete bollocks!

HohohomoaneeInAManger · 03/12/2011 13:50

AH but dont you do deep fried pizza in Scotland? How awful does that sound? Far worse than mushy peas Grin

Bourbonchops · 03/12/2011 13:50

How did you manage so many years until now?! Have you not eaten them for 11 years too or just waited until they're in bed?
Deffo let them appreciate the yummyness of chippy chips. Mmmmm.

Sparklingbrook · 03/12/2011 13:51

Curry sauce. Yum.

valiumredhead · 03/12/2011 13:52

How have you got this far without going to the chippy!!!! Shock

TheFallenMadonna · 03/12/2011 13:52

Threads like this make me smile. Especially the "as long as it's a one off" comments.

Bib, are you saying your DC have never had chips from a fish and chip ship before? Or just not for lunch...

Sparklingbrook · 03/12/2011 13:53

I would have thought it was just for lunch.

valiumredhead · 03/12/2011 13:53

They are chips not heroin!

mrsjay · 03/12/2011 14:04

Its chips not poison hope your DCs enjoyed their chips . of course its ok to give them chips
