Just chips, mind, cos we are having a proper healthy dinner this evening.

They are 8 and nearly 11 and I have never done it before

So its ok, isn't it?

And wibu to have just chippy chips too? even though I could lose a few stone pounds?

My dh is from the 'seaside'. Ds loves a trip to grandmas for chip shop chips. She lives a 5 minute walk from the beach. The fish & chips there are the best.

Sparklingbaubles · 03/12/2011 15:22

Chips from the chippy by the seaside-yum.

valiumredhead · 03/12/2011 15:23

Did you know mushy peas are actually yellow and dyed green?! I quite like them!

TheFallenMadonna · 03/12/2011 15:26

Thank goodness. I would have had to significantly alter my mental image of you otherwise. Still, never having eaten chips from the paper at the seaside? Hmm. Cultural impoverishment...

northernwreck · 03/12/2011 15:29

I used to work in a chippy, and the chips are made with fresh potatoes, cooked quickly in very hot oil, thus retaining their Vitamin C. Your Honour.

valiumredhead · 03/12/2011 15:30

Fish and chips from Whitstable are the BEST!

Sparklingbaubles · 03/12/2011 15:31

northern, do people really buy the pickled eggs?

nikon1968 · 03/12/2011 15:33

I cannot believe someone is asking this question.

How the heck have you managed to bring up two children?

northernwreck · 03/12/2011 15:40

Sparklingbaubles No! They are merely decorative Wink

tigerlillyd02 · 03/12/2011 15:41

I wa surprised you even asked! Mind you - that comes from someone who was tempted to ask a few nights ago if toad in the hole was ok after my mum made a comment on it Blush

tigerlillyd02 · 03/12/2011 15:42

Oh and I love a cone, not bag of chippy chips with a pickled egg :D
My child will not eat chips in any form so I hardly ever get to eat it....

Sparklingbaubles · 03/12/2011 15:43

Oh no, what's wrong with toad in the hole? Do tell tiger.

QuintessentialyFestive · 03/12/2011 15:45
Angry

We dont even have a decent chippy nearby!! Lucky you. Go for it!

Once in a while, and all that.....

marmiteandjam · 03/12/2011 16:08

Why are you asking us this OP?? It's up to you what you give your children to eat. Is it some sort of stealth boast that they have supposedly never had chip shop chips? Get a life.

bibbitybobbitybloodyaxe · 03/12/2011 16:30

Oh dear God, some people really have no sense of humour/irony/basic intelligence whatsoever - do they?

Grin

Yes, SHAME on you for stealth boasting OP!!

usualsuspect · 03/12/2011 16:34

Chippy chips with a big dollop of Mayo to dip them in, mmmmmmmmm

FredFredGeorge · 03/12/2011 16:37

sparklingbaubles some toads are hallucinogenic, so you need to make sure you get the right ones otherwise the kids are up all night.

Sparklingbaubles · 03/12/2011 16:39

Shock Fred it's DS2's favourite as well.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 03/12/2011 16:45

I walked past our chippy at lunchtime to drop some dry cleaning in. Smelled divine, am jealous.

Sparklingbaubles · 03/12/2011 16:48

Love the idea of going to the chippy being a stealth boast bibbity. Grin

Once, we had a chinese buffet for lunch. Shock

NormanTebbit · 03/12/2011 16:53

The other day I saw someone eating a pie in a roll Shock

Mine get chipper chips sometimes and it's a lovely treat. Although BIL took the three of them for a day ( it was an emergency) and when i picked them up, proudly declared the two year old loved sausages in batter and the other two wolfed down steak pie and chips Shock Grin

reelingintheyears · 03/12/2011 16:56

Mmmm,a big,fat chip sandwich in white bread.

Sparklingbaubles · 03/12/2011 16:57

When we were on holiday (in UK-north) it seemed to be the done thing to walk round eating a steaming hot meat pie out of the foil. No cutlery-just stick your head in it and eat. Only once did I see a bloke eating it with a teaspoon. [shocked]

Norman that's so funny I bet they loved it.

mrsjay · 03/12/2011 16:58

Dont knock the deep fried pizza till you have tried it Grin I wanted chippie for tea tonight but i was outvoted for the chinese , all that salt and gloop is a heart attack in a tub
