To really worry about what a fire risk nightclubs are?

Sat in this dingy nightclub, 3.30am sunday morning I'm looking around and see the place is still packed like sardines in a tin. Many people are drunk, more and very drunk - some are almost unconcious on the sofas. There is spilt alcohol all over the floor and as far as I can see - one exit door at the far end of the room.

If a big fire started, it would spread quickly. Yes I know there are probably fire doors and sprinklers etc that I couldn't see but when so many people are intoxicated, how the hell would they get everyone out before casualties happened?

AIBU to think these places are a disaster waiting to happen?

I am claustrophobic so that could have sparked my anxiety at the time.

YANBU, but councils and fire brigades in this country are aware of the risk, and they do check things like electrical certificates, fire exits and extinguishers.
(blah blah nanny state, dead hand of regulation strangling small businesses blah blah)

YANBU, I used to get the fear in clubs too. But as who says, they are all licensed premises and they have maximum numbers etc. And it's loads better now places are non-smoking too...
