It was in TK Maxx the other day and in the discount book section in the garden centre today. Less than half price and still not selling.

God I'm mean but it gives me a little frisson of schadenfreude every time I see it

Who is Gwynnie? Never heard of him / her.

ChristinedePizanne · 30/11/2011 17:02

Gwyneth Paltrow. Famed gourmand apparently

YANBU

I do like her, she seems sweet and I respect her for not splashing her life all over the tabloids BUT she has misjudged this. We have had enough of smuggy domestic types, I think.

Sorry Gwynnie! Back to the day job for you, sweetheart.

She's unbearably smug methinks

WTAF · 30/11/2011 18:43

YANBU. Horribly smug. I do hope anyone that may buy me a gift knows better than to buy me a copy!

Its not just a little cookbook she's knocked out, its her whole blog/website/ lifestyle thingy. Makes me wanna puke quite frankly. Is she worried they don't have ENOUGH money?

nursenic · 30/11/2011 18:45

Quite a few of the recipe's do not work. There was an unbearably cutesy smug interview with her in USA Vogue at time of it's launch.
Absolutely pukesome....

PreviouslyonLost · 30/11/2011 18:46

YADNBU....Book OR 'Gloop' = smug, insufferable muppet. Poor Chris.

theincredibequeenofwands · 30/11/2011 18:53

Which one is Gywneth Paltrow?

Moulin Rouge? The really pale one who can't move her face?

ChristinedePizanne · 30/11/2011 19:20

She was in Sliding Doors and 7even and Shakespeare in Love. Since then she's largely been a SAHM, grinding her own quinoa, from what I can ascertain.

Do tell about the recipes that don't work nursenic :o

I saw her on something for the weekend plugging the book months ago , oh shes really smug isnt she , she rustled up some Krabby paties for her kiddies because the love sponge bob , quick and delicious aparently rolls eyes

I saw her book in The Works a discount book shop for 3 quid last week , poor gwinnie

Gapants · 30/11/2011 19:24

But it is excellent food porn.

thestringcheesemassacre · 30/11/2011 19:25

theincredible, you are thinking of Nicole Kidman. Frozen in time.

Gwynnie is dreadful. I quite often read the article she wrote (with Stella McC and some other highly wealthy woman) about how they manage to be working mums and HAVE it all. It's so bad it's laughable.

Thankgodforcaffeine · 30/11/2011 20:17

YANBU.

She is not a chef, not even a very imaginative cook (her recipes are frankly uninspiring at best).

She keeps going on about how she has a very normal life and is a very normal mum, blah blah blah. Sure you are, love. Most normal mums have a PA, and a cleaner, and a gardener, and a nanny to look after the kids while they are working out with their personal trainer.

And yet, somehow she still finds the time and the energy to "create" delicious, wholesome food for her family. How does she do it? I am in awe! :o

ZZZenAgain · 30/11/2011 20:19

I don't mind her but I am not interested in a housekeeping book written by her
