to complain to Coca Cola as well as Tesco?

Whist on a break in Cambridge I went to Tesco and bought two bottles of oasis. Upon opening the one bottle I found a disgusting brown gunge in the lid, it was caked in this stuff. The actual drink didnt have this in and was not discoloured or anything.

Having inspected the bottle I found it went out of date in June this year. I dread to think how long it had been on the shelf as they usually have a long shelf life.

My dilema is this: would the pop being out of date cause this gunge to be in the lid? If so then it is only Tesco's fault and i should write to them.

I find it hard to believe that a bottle of pop that is out of date would make this gunge in the lid and not make the actual drink weird. In that case I would write to coca cola about the gunge and tesco about the use by date.

WWYD?

WWID? Bin them and forget about it, TBH.

I would take it back to Tesco and ask for a refund. I wouldn't complain.

Tescos fault.

valiumredhead · 30/11/2011 12:16

The gunge was probably a bit of sugar gone sticky. You bought it from Tescos so you deal with them.

I would bin and forget it personally!

craftyknickers · 30/11/2011 12:22

usually I'd forget about it but this was very disgusting! And I'm annoyed at the fact it is 4 months out of date!

But thank you for your advice, ill deal with Tesco.

Fucking hell, 4 months??

Yes, it's Tesco's fault I'd say and not Coca Cola's

squeakytoy · 30/11/2011 12:26

Of course it is Tesco's fault/mistake. I would simply return it, with the receipt, and get a replacement.

I wouldnt be arsed to start sending moany emails, life is far too short.

DH bought a bottle of diet Coke from Tesco the other week and it was 6 months out of date. This was only the small bottle so how that happened I will never know. I'd have thought they sold well enough not to go out of date that much. He didn't do anything but I'd have complained
